Description
(NoModL) W LECKEBUSCH.
CORSET.
Patented Jam. 19, v1 89'7..
IVILIIELM L ECKEBUSCH, OF DUSSELDORF, GERMANY.
` CORSET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 575,400, dated January 19, 1897. Application filed August S0, 1895. Serial No. 560,976. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILHELM LEcKnBUscH, a subject of the German Emperor, residing at Dusseldorf, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Corsets, with description as follows.
This invention relates to an improvement in corsets, and has for its object more particularly to insure a better tand a superior support at the back of the garment.
I/Vith the corsets as heretofore generally constructed a line of lacing extended across the back of the wearer to draw the two rear edges of the corset into greater or less proximity. In this way the back lost its support and an undue amount of strain was put on the lace-string. By my invention these objections are entirely overcome and a superior article is produced.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure lis a rear view of my improved corset; Fig. 9, a horizontal section through the same; Fig. 3, a similar section through the back of the corset; Fig. 4, a similar section through a modification, and Fig. 5 a plan of the stay.
The two halves or sections A A' of the corset are so constructed that one section overlaps the other section even if the corset is made to assume its maximum width. Each section is provided with a number of horizontal stays s s', the stays S of the inner section A being placed at the outer side and the stays s' of the outer section A being placed at the inner side of the garment. Each of the stays s s is provided with eyes o o and end hooks h h', which are adapted to engage the eyes and hooks of the stay brought into horizontal alinement therewith. In this way a double fastening is secured which is very reliable and holds the corset snugly to the body. Moreover, the adjustability of the corset and also its strength and sustaining power are greatly increased.
In Fig. 4 the sections B B of the corset do not overlap, but are connected by a third section C, that overlaps both sections B. The section C has the horizontal stays s3, which are secured to the corresponding stays s2 of the sections B B by the hooks bf2-and eyes o2 in the manner described.
A corset provided with overlapping back sections, horizontal stays secured to the outer side of the inner back section, horizontal stays secured to the inner side of the outer back section, and fastening devices for connecting the stays, substantially as specied.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of. two subscribing witnesses.
