Description
' UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICE.
A. FRAZEE, OF EAST BLOOMFTELD, AND L. M. SMITH, OF GANANDAIGUA, y NEW YORK.
Specication forming part of Letters Patent N0. 56,741, dated July 31, 1866.'
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that We, ALBERT FEAZEE, of East Bloomfield, and LEWIS M. SMITH, of Canandaigua, in the county of Ontario and State of New York, have inven ted an Improved Bed-Bottom; and we do hereby declare that the following is a t'ull and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification.
Figurel Il is a top view of a bedstead provided with our improved bed-bottom; Fig. 2,
aA central longitudinal vertical section thereof.
Like letters designate corresponding parts in both gures.
The slats B B are attached at each end to cross-bars U C, generally in pairs, as shown, so that (.lierent parts of the bed-bottom may move independently. The slats may be at tached to the b'ars by screws a a.
To the inside of the head and foot rails of the bedstead Aare respectively attach ed cleats E E, as shown, by screws or otherwise. From these cleats the slats are suspended by means of elastic shirred bands G G and Wire loop hooks D D and H H. The loop-hooks D D hook around the cleats, and H H around the Slat-bars C C. They are formed alike, of single pieces of Wire, bent substantially as shown.
The hooks D D pass down through equidisof' the cleats, as at sides ofthe cleats, as shown. Weight the tighter the hold. k
This construction is exceedingly simple and cheap, the Wire loop-hooks costing but a trifle, and the shirred bands being very short pieces, and requiring no labor to adapt them to use. All the other parts are plain wooden pieces. At the same time the bed-bottorn is very elastic and works well.V
What We claim as our to secure by Letters Patent, is y The combination and arrangement of the cross-bars G O,cleats E E, elastic bands G G, and loop-hooks D D and H H, substantially as and for the purpose herein specified.
The above specification of our improved bed-bottom signed by us this 10th day of April, I1866.
The greater the ALBERT FRAZEE. LEWISM. SMITH. Witnesses:
