SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N0..561,24.4, dated June 2, 1896. Application filed May 2,1894. Serial No. 509,829. (No model.) Patented in Germany February 7, 1894, No. 78,521.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, FRANZ TIEDTKE,"1I161- chant, residing at Goslar, in the Kingdom of Prussia, German Empire, have invented new and useful Improvements in Label-Fasteners, (for which I have obtained Letters Patent in Germany, No. 78,521, dated February 7, 1894, of which the following is a specification;

The object of the present invention is a fastener for securely fastening labels to stuffs or samples without perceptible damage to the same. The connection between the label and the stuff is effected by cars or jags, small teeth, or needle-points, with which the fastener is provided.

In the accompanying drawings the labelfastener is shown. Figs. 1, 2, and 3 illustrate a fastener in which the fastening of the stuff is effected by a fork-needle capable of being opened.

An especially sure connection of label and stuff is effected by the fastener shown in Fig. 3.

At the lower end of the tin-plate piece provided with points 9 is the middle bar of a U- formed wire 2', lying in ears 71;. The free needle-formed shanks of the wire are toward their middle bar bent in such a manner that they lap over parallel to and toward the tin-plate piece and can be placed in a right-angled position. dle is determined by a knee Z on the middle bar between the ears 7c and which lies toward the lower edge of the tin-plate piece. In this fastener the needles serve for fastening the stuff, and the points g for fastening the label. lVhen the fastener is turned over, the raised position of the needles is secured by the label lying in front of it, Fig. 3.

The rectangular position of the nee-' between the goods and label is proportionate to the. corresponding pressing together of the two bent parts of the fastener.

It is obvious that I also reserve for myself the further perfecting of the present novelty and claim the application of still other appliances than those mentioned here for securing my label-fastener.

Having now described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

A tag-fastener, consisting of a plate provided at its upper portion with points and at its lower portion with ears, a substantially U-shaped pin hinged in said ears, said pin having in its center a projection which bears against the lower edge of the plate and limits its rotation, said plate and pin being turned in such a manner as to fasten a label and material together, substantially as described.
