SPECIFICATION forming 'part of Letters Patent N O. 559,517, dated May 5, 1896. Application filed January 29, 1896. Serial No. 577,272. (No model.)

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, ANNA DoEMIrzER, a resident of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Napkin-Holders, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to napkinholders, and has for its object to produce an efficient supporting device for a napkin, towel, or the like, which device may be readily applied to the person.

My invention consists in the construction hereinafter set forth and claimed. y

My invention will be understood by reference to the accompanying drawings, in which* Figure l exhibits a napkin-holder embodying one form of my invention, the same being shown as supporting a napkin in place upon a child. Fig. 2 is a plan View thereof. 3 is a side or edge View, and Fig. 4 is a fication.

Referring particularly to Fig. 2, it will be noted that the structure therein shown consists of a strip A, which takes a circular form, being bent upon itself at the points a a', the free ends b b', which are bent back, following closely the contour of the circular portion of the strip A and bulging away from it, as at the points b2 b3, and approaching vthe strip again, as shown at b4 b5, where the ends of the strips b b are shown in contact with the main modior circular body portion of the strip, the said' ends being bent away from the said body portion.

In the `modification shown in Fig. 4 the whole article is not integral, as shown in Fig.

The manner of applying my device is clearly shown in Fig. l, wherein the napkin-holder is shown as encircling the neck of the child and held in place by its resiliency, it being in the present instance formed of spring metal. The edge of the napkin B is inserted in the space between the clips or ends b b and the body A of the ring, any slack or fullness being taken up within the bulging portions of the clips, the napkin being firmly held at about the points b4 b5 and bs b9, where the contiguous parts form what are practically holding- Jaws.

What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The combination of a strip A of circular form, adapted to embrace the neck of a wearer,

having clips b b at its ends a d which clips approximately conform to the contour of the periphery of the strip, closely approaching the strip at the points bs b9 forming napkinholding jaws at these points, thence bulging away from the strip forming the bulging portions 52 b3, then approaching the strip again at the points b4 b5 forming napkin-holding jaws at these points, whereby the napkin will p be held at four points in the periphery of the strip A, substantiallyas and for the purposes specified.
