Be it known that we, LEWIS JOHNSON and LEWIS FRIDLUND, citizens of the United States, residing at vVillmar, in the county of Kandiyohi and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fabric o r Goods Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.'

This invention aims to facilitate the bolting or reeling of textile fabrics and like goods which are stored in a compact form bybeing wound uponitselfor a core, and to enable the ready and convenient handling of `the same when it is required to display the goods or measure oi a quantity for a customer.

With these and other obj ects in view, which will become apparent as the nature ofthe invention is unfolded, the improvement consists of thenovel features which hereinafter will be more fully set forth and claimed, and which are shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is aside elevation of a device constructed in accordance with and embodying the essence of the presentinvention, the full lines .showing the holder resting upon the counter and the dotted lines showing the holder in an elevated position. Fig.2 is a detail view showing the base by means of which the deviceis secured to the counter `or other support. Fig. 3 is a top.planf?view of the base.

The base 1 is expanded at its lower end and is apertured to receive screws or likefastenings 2 by means of Whichthe devioeis xedly attached to a counter 3 or other support. A head 4 has a depending pintle 5, which is mounted in a vertical opening formed in the base 1, and the lower end of this-pintle is reduced and threaded and fitted with a nut 6, by means .of which the head 4 is held to the base 1. Obviously any means may be employed for securing the head` 4 and base 1 together and which will admit of the said head turning upon the base. A boss 18 is formed. or attached to the lower side of the table 15 and is transversely bored 9o to receive and form a bearing for the shaft 19, which has its inner lportion 2O threaded for a short distance and upon which threaded portion is mounted a movable jaw 21 and which is actuated by rotating the said shaft 19 within 95 the boss 18. An annular groove 21 is formed in the shaft 19 between its ends, and a key 22, driven into an 'opening in the boss18, ts in the said annular groove 21' and holds the shaft 19 from longitudinal movement Within the Ioo boss 18. A crank 23 is fitted to the outer end of the shaft 19 and is held to the ,latter by means of a key 24. A stationary jaw 25 extends at right angles from the table '15 and is parallel with the jaw 21, and these two jaw are preferably roughened 0n their opposing or clamping faces, so as to bind firmly upon the sides of the core or board upon which the fabric or goods is wound.

When it is required to unwind a piece of goods or fabric the latter` is fitted upon the jaws 21 and 25, or if it has a core, such as the thin boards generally used as a foundation upon which fabrics are wound, the said core is clamped between the jaws 2l and 25 by operating the screw 19, as will be readily understood. By pulling upon the end of the fabric or goods the latter will be unwound by reason of the table or platform 15 rotating upon the bearing 12. To suit the convenience of the salesman the table can be made to occupy a horizontal or a vertical position, as shown by the full and dotted lines in Fig. 1, and when it is required to rewind the fabric or goods a crank is fitted to the angle end 17 of the spindle 14 and is turned so as to rotate the table l5, whereby the desired result is attained.

HavingV thus described our invention, what we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. A fabric or goods holder comprising a base, a head constructed to be secured upon the base at different angles, an arm having pivotal connection with the said head and a table rotatably mounted upon the said arm and provided with means to support the goods or fabric to be wound and unwound, substantially as set forth.

2. In a fabric or goods holder, the combination with a base, ahead constructed to be secured upon the base at different-angles, and a table for supporting the fabric or goods, of an arm carrying the said table and having pivotal connection with the said head and provided with a locking-pin to engage with a depression in the said base and secure the arm and head in the required position, substantially as set forth.

3. In combination abase,aheadconstructed to be secured upon the base at different angies, and a fabric or goods supporting arm having a pivotal connection with the said head and having locking-pins at diagonallyopposite points and which are adapted to cngage with depressions in the said base so as to secure the said arm in any adjusted position in either a vertical or horizontal position, substantially as set forth for the purpose described.

4. In combination a base, a supporting-arm pivotally connected with the base at one end and having a bearing at its opposite end, a

table for receiving and supporting the fabric or'goods, and a Aspindle extending from thc table and journaled in the said bearing and having its ends made angular to receive a crank by means of which the table is rotated, substantially as set forth for the purpose dcscribed.

5. In a fabric or goods holder, the combination of a supporting-arm having a bearing, a table provided with a boss and a spindle the latter being journaled in the said bearing, and having its outer end made angular ,for the reception of a crank, a shaft journaled in the said boss and having a threaded portion, a movable jaw mounted upon the threaded portion of the shaft and a companion jaw to act in opposition to the movable jaw for clamping the core between them, substantially as set forth.

6. The hereinspeeitied fabric or goods holder, comprising a base, a head constructed to be secured upon the base at different relativeangles, an arm having pivotal connection with the said head and formed at its outer end with abearin g and having diagonally-disposed locking-pins at its pivotal ends to engage with depressions in the base to secure the head in any adjusted position, a table having a boss and a spindle, the latter journaled in the said bearing and having its end constructed to receive a crank, a shaft journaled in the boss and having a threaded portion, and a sta-
