IRONING=TABLE.
$PEGIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 547,315, dated October 1, 1895.
Application filed April 13, 1895. Serial No. 545,627, {No model.)
2'0 a, whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GUsTAv RICHARD ZIER- FUSS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ironing-Tables, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to improvements in ironing-tables, and one object of my invention is'the provision of a table which can be used as an ordinary table or be quickly converted into an ironing-table, as circumstances may require, and which will be thoroughly efiicient for the intended purpose.
Another object of my invention is the provision of an ironing-table which will be of the simplest possible construction, inexpensive of production, and of compact form.
To attain the desired objects the invention consists of a combined table and ironing-table embodying novel features of construction and combination of parts, substantially as disclosed herein.
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a table constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 represents a side elevation. Fig. 3 represents a plan view with the iron ing table or leaf folded upon the other leaf of the table, and Fig. 4 represents a perspective view of a portion of the ironing table or board.
In the drawings, the numeral 1 designates the legs of the table.
2 designates the upper part of legs serving as corner-pieces. 3 designates the ends connected thereto. 7
4t designates the sides, and 5 designates the cross pieces or rails connecting the sides. The end and side rails at one corner of the table are cut away or recessed, as at 6, and to the supporting-frame of the table at one corner is pivoted the leaf or section 7 by means of the pin 7, which allows the top of the table to be swung around in any desired position. To the section 7 is hinged the other leaf or section 8, these leaves being as shown in full lines in Fig. 1 and forming the top of the table for ordinary use. To the under side of'the leaf or section 8 at one end is hinged, as at 9, the leaf 10, forming, with the section, the complete ironing-board. To the under side of this hinged leaf 10, by means of hinges 11, is hinged the ironing-table supporting-leg 12, carrying the brace 13, having an eye 14 at one end adapted to engage the loop 15 of the guide 16, secured to the under side of the said hinged leaf 10.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the drawings, it will be seen that I provide a table which can be used as an ordinary table or be quickly converted into an ironing-table and which will perform its respective functions in a thorough manner.
WVhen the table is in use, the parts are in the position shown in full lines in Fig, 1, with the leaf 10 folded out of the waywith the leg resting on the cross-piece near the middle of the table and the leaf l0 resting on the recess or cut-out portion 6 in the corner of the table, and when it is desired to use the ironingtable it is simply necessary to throw back the hinged leaf or section 8 upon the section 7 and unfold the leaf 1O hinged to the end of section 8, and the supporting-leg will support said leaf 1O properly and provide a thoroughly-efficient ironing-table, as is evident.
I claim- An ironing table consisting of the support ing legs, the sides and ends secured to the legs forming the frame and having one corner cut away or recessed on the upper edge, the two hinged sections resting on the frame, the hinged end section or extension on one of the main hinged sections adapted when out of use to rest in the recess at the corner of the frame, the leg hinged to said end section, the guide on the end section having the loop, and the brace on the leg engaging said loop.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
G. RICHARD ZIERFUSS.
Witnesses:
JOHN N. MonLM, Geo. DE GRASSE.
