To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, HENRY T. RICHMOND, a citizen of the United States, residing at Malvern, in the county of Mills and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Neck-Yoke Loops and I do doclare the following to be a full, clear, and eX- act description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it apto pertains to make and use the same.

My invention has relation to an improved combined neck-yoke loop and tongue or pole support or loop, and my said invention embodies improvements upon the device forming subject-matter of my application for patent filed April 21, 1894:, Serial No. 508,480, and among the objects in View is to provide an improved construction of the tongue-support seen in said application, so that it will be extremely durable and strong and not apt to get out of its proper shape and not be liable to become worn; and my invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement, and combination of parts, as hereinafter fully described,

illustrated in the drawings, and pointed outin the appended claim.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my complete device embodying my improvements. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view thereof, showing a portion of a neckyoke in place. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the metal loop for strengthening or reinforcing the tongue support or loop.

In carrying out my invention I employ a 5 neck-yoke A, which in its construction is similar to the neck-yoke loop seen in my previously-cited application for patent-that is to say, it is formed of astrap of sheet or band metal a and a strap of leather a, the leather being arranged inside of the metal portion to prevent contact of the metal with the neckyoke and the consequent rattling and wear of the parts that would otherwise occur thereat.

B indicates my improved tongue support or 5 loop, and the same is constructed of a metallic loop 0, which has the widened elliptical or oval-shape portion 0 and the narrow looped portion or terminal 0. The loop 0 is bent at an angle at the point 0 so that said loop will assume the proper shape for adapting the tongue to be properly suspended or hung from the support B.

The loop 0 is covered upon either side by leather D, which leather portions have a general configuration or outline conforming to that of the loop 0 and are made somewhat larger than the latter, so as to confine it upon all sides. The leather portions D are provided with circular openings D, through which the tongue is adapted to pass, and the said leather portions are sewed together, as at d d, to securely hold the loop 0 within or between them. The said leather portions are also perforated, as at D through which perforations passes the headed swiveling-bolt E, which also passes through perforations in the flat terminal portions a of the loop A. The bolt E receives a nut F to hold said bolt in place.

The loop A is provided with aslot a which receives a set-screw or projection a in the neck-yoke to permit the latter to have an axial swiveling motion, which, together with the horizontal swiveling motion of the loops, accommodates the same to the various relative movements of the tongue and neck-yoke, as is obvious.

The loops may be taken-apart for any desired purpose by withdrawing the swivel-bolt.

It will be seen that by the provision of the loop B with its reinforcing loop, I obtain great strength in the support for the tongue, and the said support in use prevents rattling of the tongue therein, and the wearon the latter as well as on the support is reduced to a minimum.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
