SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 527,373, dated October 9, 1894.

Be it known that I, HENRY T. RICHMOND,

`a citizen of the United States, residing at Malbined neck-yoke loopand tongue or pole support or loop and it has for its obj oct to prevent rattle, noise or squeaking of the parts, also to practically overcome all wear or chaflng between the said parts and yet provide for the swiveling of the same together to accommodate the various relative movements of the tongue and yoke, and to these ends the inventlon consists of the novel combination and construction of the parts, substantially as hereinafter more fully disclosed and specifically pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings-Figure l is a side View of my invention. Fig. 2 is a plan View, and Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section thereof.

In carryingout my invention, I employ a loop A for the neck-yoke, and a loop or support B for the tongue or pole, forming both loops of metal and leather and swiveling them together and one to the neck-yoke as presently described. The loop A is formed of a strap of sheet or band metal a, and a strap of leather a', and the loop B of similar straps of metal and leather b and b', respectively. The leather portions or surfaces of the loops are arranged inside of the metal portions or surfaces thereof to prevent contact of the metal with the neck-yoke and tongue and the consequent rattle, squeaking or noise, and chafing or wear, that would otherwise occur thereat. The flat end or terminal metal por tions 01,2 and b2 of the loops A and B, respect ively, are brought together so as to alternate with the leather portions thereof, to prevent abrasion or wear thereat, and are swiveled together by a headed swivel-bolt c passing sean No. 508,480. The neck-yoke loop A has a longitudinal slot d therein, which receives a set-screw or projection CZ set in the neck-yoke to permit the latter to have an axial-swiveling motion, which, together with the horizontal-swiveling motion of the loops, accommodates the same to the various relative movements of the tongue and neck-yoke, as is obvious.

The two loops it is apparent can be readily taken apart, by withdrawing the swivel-bolt, and refaced with leather when required.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. The combination of the loop A, consisting of a sheet metal bando, and a leather strap ct lining the inner surface of the band a, the loop B, consisting of a sheet metal strap b, and a leather strap b lining the inner surface of said strap b, the terminal metal portions of the loops being arranged to alternate with the leather portions thereof, a bolt c, passing through the loops and swiveling the same together, and a nut c carried by said bolt, as and for the purpose specified.
