UNITED STATES" WILLIAMBRADY, OF WENONA, ILLINOIS.
HARNESS-BUCKLE AND TRACE-SUPPORT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 522,876, dated July 10, 1894.
Application filed October 27, 1893. Serial No- 489, 46-
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM BRADY, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Wenona, in the county of Marshall and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in l-Iarn ess-Buckles and Tracesupports, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference thereon, forming a part of this specification, in which-.-
Fignre 1 is a view of the buckle and its attachment as viewed from its outer side. Fig. 2 is aview of the reverse side of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a section on line 1 of Fig. 1 and Fig. 4 is a View of the outer side of the buckle having a billet attached thereto by means of a rivet. This invention relates to certain improvements in billet holders for harness buckles, which improvements are fully set forth and explained in the following specification and claim.
Referring to the drawings B represents an ordinary tug buckle for a harness. The billet holder is represented as being an attachment thereto, and integral therewith, and consists of the parts D and E, forming extending arms, and the integral cross bar Ffor con necting the outer ends ofsaid arms.
The arms D are in the form of angle iron in cross section as shown in Fig. 8, and ar- (No model.)
ranged so that the billet W passes under their projecting flanges to secure it in place, while the back of the billet rests on the arm E and cross bar F, and is intended to be riveted to the arm E by one or more rivets R passing through a rivet hole S. By means of this means of attachment of the billet to the buckle much time is saved in sewing the billet to the buckle as in the ordinary way, and a very considerable amount of leather is saved, as it is not necessary to sew the end of the billet back upon itself. Also the billet will last longer on account of not having any movement in the holder. This billet holder may be attached to any buckle or any other part of a harness where a billet is used.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is as follows:
A buckle attachment for holding billets comprising the two parallel flanged arms, parallel arm arranged centrally between said flanged arms on a dilferent plane from their flanges, and having a rivet hole, and a cross bar for connecting the outer endsof all of said arms, all combined and arranged substantially as and for the purpose set forth. WILLIAM BRADY. Witnesses:
JOHN F. HOYE, JOHN V. H. HODGE.
