PATENT GEORGE O. ROGERS, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO HENRY R. HAMLEY, OF SAME PLACE.
SOAP-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 545,024, dated August 20, 1 895.
Application filed April 27, 1895- Serlal No. 547. (No 11105819 T aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE O. Rodnns, of
the city of St. Louis, in the State of Missouri;
have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Soap-Holders, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
My invention relates to a device designed to be attached to a vessel-such as a bucketfor the purpose of holding cakes of soap, the device being especially useful when employed in connection with the water-bucket of floorscrubbers; and my invention consists in features of novelty hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claims.
Figure I illustrates a bucket with one of my improved soap-holders secured thereon. Fig. II illustrates a detail top view of the holder as illustrated in Fig. I. Figs. III and 1V illustrate,respectively, side and top views of the holderin reverse position from that shown in Figs. I and II. Fig. V illustrates the brush-holder.
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates the vessel to which the holders are shown attached.
2 designates a block provided at one of its sides with prongs or pins 3, and at the opposite side with projections or staples 4, either one of said sides being designed to receive and hold a cake of soap. The prongs 3 are embedded into the soap by its being pressed upon them and the soap is held to the block by their means. The projections 4, at the opposite side of the block, are arranged in a line around the margin of the block, and the cake of soap rests upon the block within said line of projections. The block is secured to the 4o brim of the vessel 1 by means of ears 5, hinged at 6 in an angular position with reference to the block, so that whichever side of the block signed to be connected to the block 2 by insorting the ends 10 of the hooks through loops or eyes 11 in the ends of the block.
The device is inexpensive, and can be readily connected to a vessel and as readily disconnected, and by its use the soap and brush may be always kept handy.
I claim as my invention- 1. In an improved soap holder, consisting of a block, prongs projecting from one side of the block, and reversible ears secured to the block in an angular position, and by which the block may be attached to a bucket or other object in inclined position, substantially as described.
2. In an improved soap holder, consisting of a block, prongs projecting from one side of the block, ears hinged to the block in an angular position, so as to be reversed from one side to the other, substantially as described.
3. In an improved soap holder, a block, a reversible means for supporting the block, prongs projecting from one side of the block by which a cake of soap may be held, and a marginal row of projections extending from the other side of the block, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two witnesses.
