Description

( No Model.)
K .HERRMANN. WATER CLOSET TANK N0. 543O91 Patented July 23, 1895.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
KAsPAR HERRMANN, 0F COLUMBUS, OHIO.
"WATER-CLOSET TAN K.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 543,091, dated July 23, 1895.
Application filed May 11, 1895.
T0 at whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, KASPAR HERRMANN, a citizen of the United States, residing at O0- lumbus, in thecounty of Franklin'and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Water-Closet Tanks; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full,
clear, and exact description of the invention,
such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The object of my invention is to provide a cheap and durable tank or reservoir for flushing water-closet bowls.
The improvements are described in the following description and claims:
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 illustrates a front view of the tank; Fig. 2, a top plan View, and Fig. 3 a sectional view taken on a vertical plane indicated by the line 00 a; of Fig. 1.
1 designates the back of the tank, which is made of a single rectangular board.
2 designates the bottom, which is of similar shape, except that it is rounded at the front corners and is made with a rabbet 2 along its rear edge to receive the edge of the back piece 1. The front edge of the bottom board is also made with a rabbet 2".
The front and sides of the tank are made of a veneer 3, upon which is cemented or glued a strong and rather thick piece of oiled fabric 3. As the veneer and fabric are pliable, they may be readily bent and set to shape to fit upon the rounded bottom piece, the rear edges being nailed or otherwise secured to the ends Serial No. 543,903- (No model.)
of the back piece of the tank. The upper edge of the veneer front and sides are stiffened as well as ornamented by a molding 4, secured thereto by any approved means, and the joint between the front and bottom is covered and protected by band or strip 5 of" wood or molding.
When the tank has been constructed as hereinbefore described, it will preferably have its interior painted or pitched or otherwise coated with a waterproof-covering.
Bya practical test I have found that when once constructed a tank of this kind will withstand the severest warping.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A watercloset tank having a back and a bottom of wood with rounded front corners, and its front and sides of a veneer of wood lined with fabric secured together, substantially as described.
2. AWater-closet tank having a back and a bottom of wood with rounded front corners, and its front and sides of a veneer of wood lined with fabric secured together, and a strip of molding or wood secured to the upper edge of the veneer front and sides, substantially as described.
, In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
.KASPAR' HERRMANN. Witnesses:
GEORGE M. FINCKEL, JoNAs HERRMANN.
