PICTURE-FRAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 540,575, dated .T une 4, 1895.
Application iiled December 13, 1894. Serial No. 531,654 me model.)
T0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWIN H. BROWN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in the Art of Securing Pictures to Medallions and other Articles, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to secure pictures or other delineations or ornaments to such articles as medallions, lockets and other objects in a tasty and durable manner and the invention consists in the novel features of construction set forth in the following specification and claims and illustrated in the annexed drawings, in which- Figure l is a face View of a medallion with my invention. Fig. 2 is a section along a' Fig. l. Fig. 3 is a sectional View of a modification.
In the drawings-the letter A indicates a ring or bezel having three grooves or corrugations B O G. A glass or crystal E is snapped or held in groove G. A picture or a sheet, glass or plate H provided with a picture is held in groove B. The picture may be replaced by a letter, delineation or ornamentation of any desired kind. The tone D is also shown held in groove B. This tone may be a sheet or plate of milk glass or other substance of the desired coloration or shade to produce a given effect. A background F is shown held in groove G. This background is generally a sheet or plate of dark coloration, but it may be black or lighter as seen fit.
The glass or crystal E being separate from the picture or from the sheet or disk H carrying the picture, a break or injury of the glass E alone will not affect the picture.
The bezel A is shown in a frame or ring I. In Fig. 2 the bezel A is shown with a convex outer edge or rim, and the ring I nas a concave inner face adapted to fit said convex edge, so that the bezel A can be firmly seated or snapped into frame I.
In the modification shown in Fig. 3 the bezel or ring A has its outer edge provided with a rim or flange, the frame I being formed with a shoulder K at its inner edge to it the rimmed edge of the bezel.
The bezel .can be firmly secured in the frame by a screw L which when turned home will engage or secure the bezel. The screw L by being housed in the stem M will not cause any unsightliness.
The ring N can be used to suspend the locket in the usual Way.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A ring provided with a picture or representation, in combination with a frame adapted to surround the ring and having a screwfor engaging the ring, substantially as del EDWIN II. BROWN.
