ERNST WILHELM SOI-I OTNE, OF MULBITZ, NEAR GROSSENHAIN, GERMANY.
LEAF-DRAWING APPARATUS OR HEDDLE SUSPENDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 540,274, dated June 4, 1895.
Application filed August 18, 1893! Serial No. 483.476. (No model.) Patented in Germany February 12 1893, No. 69,620, and in England March 9, 1893, No. 5,118.
, scHoNE, a subject of the Emperor of Germany,
residing at Miilbitz, near Grossenhain, in the Empire of Germany, have invented a new and "useful Leaf-Drawing Apparatus for Looms,
(for which I have obtained a patent in Germany, No. 69,620, hearing date February 12, 1893, and in Great Britain, No. 5,118, bearing date March 9, 1893,) of which the following is a specification.
a The presentinvention relates to aleaf drawin g apparatus or heddIesuspender, composed mainly, of two adjustably connecting parts, the construction of the said parts being such as to prevent their connection in any way other than in a direct line; and to lock automatically and securely without the aid of other agency.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front View of the' device, and Fig. 2 a side view thereof. Fig. 3 represents the spring-locking portion of the device; Fig. 4, a longitudinal section of the entire device, and Fig. 5 a cross-section of the sheath or spring-engaging portion thereof.
The letter a designates a suspension hook and block to which is secured the upper end of a rectangular shaped sheath 1) having a central partition 17', dividing same into two vertical compartments. .The outer edge of each compartment is provided, at like heights, with a series of perforations c for receiving the outwardly projecting ends a of a folded spring-bar d, the center or folded portion of which is provided with aring, as shown at e for connection with a leaf, or heddle.
In the operation of my invention the hook at of the sheath section is attached to the strap, and the ring e of the spring-bar to the leaf or heddle. The sections of the device are then brought into a direct line and the ends of the spring-bar pressed together and inserted into the bottom of the sheath, at opposite sides of the partition thereof. The parts are then adjusted, and secured by allowing the projecting-ends of the spring-bar to engage opposite perforations in the edges of the shield.
From the construction of my device it will be seen that the shield-partition b precludes the possibility of the connection of the sections of the device in any other than a direct line. i
What I claim isv,A folded spring-bar having ends bent outwardly as described and provided witha suspension eye or hook in the same plane as said bar and ends, in combination with a thin metal sheath having a partition dividing the same into two vertical compartments, the outer edge of each compartment being perforated, and one end of the sheath being provided with a block and suspension hook or eye, the ends of the spring-bar adapted to straddle the sheath partition and to operate in the sheath compartments to engage the perforations, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
