My invention relates to an improvement in buckles, and more particularly to a device of this kind or character which is devised tosbe used with suspenders, shoulder straps attached to overalls, or similar articles, the object being to so construct the buckle that the strap or suspender will be held flatly and firmly in 'position' with respect thereto,whereby any tendency of the strap or suspender to bulge outwardly from the buckle and become accidentally'detached from the tongues or prongs thereof, is prevented.

Another object of my invention is to provide a device which is simple in its con truction, and therefore cheap to man ufacture, and which will be strong and EfllC'lcdt in use.

WVith these and other ends in View, my invention consists in certain novel features of construction, as will he hereinafter fully described and pointed out in the claim.

Referring to Figs. 1, 2 and 3 of the draw ings, the buckle is shown as consisting of two parts, the upper portion or frame A and the lower orbody portion B, each of which is constructed from a single piece of wire. The frame A is of the usual form,

.being bent to form the loop 9, and having its ends bent to form eyes or sockets a. for sup porting the body portion of the buckle in. the well known manner. The lower or body portion B is preferably formed by bending the wire upward to form the vertical sides 5, b, and at intermediate points thereof, the

wire is bent inwardly and then backwardly upon itself forming the tongues or retaining means v, c, for preventing the strap or suspendei from bulging outwardly from the buckle and becoming accidentally disengaged from the tongues thereof, and also forming the upper and lower loops (Z and a throughwhich the snspender or strap passes ashereinafter described. The ends of the wire forming the body portionB are bent to form the tongues f, j, which co-act with the frame A in the usual manner. It will be seen that I have devised a buckle which is simple. in construction, and con sequently cheap to manufacture, which will be efficient in use, and which is provided with means for holding the strap or sus ponder to which it is attached flat-against the same, thereby preventing the strap from bulging outwardly and becoming detached from the tongues of the buckle.
