E.O.PRESBY. DRAWERS SUPPORT.
Patented Jan; 29, 1895.

EDWIN 0. PRESBY, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DRAWERS-SU PPo RT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 533,373, dated January 29, 1895- Application fil d O tob r 25,1894. Serial No. 526,964. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWIN O. PRESBY, a citlzen of the United States, residing at New York, In the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain'new and useful Improvements in Dra-wersSupports; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invent1on, such as will enable others skilled inthe art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improvements in drawers supports to be attached to trousers, and 1t consists of certain novel features hereinafter describedand claimed. Reference is had to the accompanying draw- Ings, wherein the same parts are indicated by the same letters throughout the several Views. Figure 1 represents a perspective view showmg the improved drawers supporter attached to the waistband of a pair of trousers, and supportlng the drawers. Fig. 2 represents a section, on an enlarged scale, of the device shown said figure; and Fig. 3 represents another form of device for attaching the drawers supporter to the walstband of the trousers, being shown in section similar to that of Fig. 2.
A represents the trousers provided with a waistband of the usual type.
B represents the drawers provided with ordinary tapes 6, by which the said drawers are ordinarilyattached to the suspenderbuttons of the trousers. l
. 0 represents a suspender button of the usual type secured to the waistband of the trousers, by the flanges 0. Attached to the sald flanges is a resilient head 0 which snaps into the recess d in the center of the metal cap D,which is preferably made of two pressed plates 61 and d engaging each other as shown most clearly in Fig. 2. Attached to this metal cap D is a supporting strap E made of tape, braid, elastic, or other suitable material, which is bent on itself as at e, and carries a second cap D by means of which the free end may be secured to a similar resilient head 0' attached to the shankO' as shown in Fig. 2, or to a resilient head d attached tothe cap D, as shown in Fig. 3.
The construction shown in Fig. 3 is pre-' ferred, since the shank of the button 0 serves to supportboth ends of the supporting strap E and the necessity for a second button or shank O is obviated.
The herein describedsupporter is readily detachable, and may be transferred from one pair of trousers to another, or removed alt0- gether, as desired.
Instead of connecting the supporting strap E to the button 0, the upper end thereof may be sewed or riveted to the trousers, and the free end may be secured in the supporting position, as by the shank C, and the cap D shown in Fig. 2; or the two caps D and D shown in Fig. 3, may be used, the upper end of the strap E being sewed or riveted to the waistband of the trousers, and not being connected to the button 0.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patentof the United States, is
1. A combined clasp and button, consisting of a button provided with a rigid shank, a resilient head attached to said shank, ametal and carrying on the back thereof a second resilient head, and a second metallic cap adapted to snap over-said second resilient head, snbstantiallyas and for the purposes .described.
2. A combined clasp and button consisting of a button provided with a rigid shank, a resilient head attached to said shank, a metal cap adapted to snap over said resilient head and carrying on the back thereof a second resilient head, a second metallic cap. adapted to snap over said second resilient head, and a strip of flexible material secured to each of said metallic caps, substantially as and for the purposes described.
In testimony whereof I aff x my signature in presence of two witnesses.
EDWIN o. PRESBY.
