SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 533,075, dated January 29, 1895. Application filed May 19, 1894. Serial No. 511,795- (No modeLl To aZZ whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EUGENE MoHN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bladensburg, in the county of Knox and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Gates; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, in which- Figure 1, is a side view, showing the gate closed. Fig. 2, is a detached view of the bracket. Fig. 3, is a detached view of the gate carrying frame, and its rollers. Fig. 4, is a view showing a portion of the gate carrying frame, and illustrating one of the gate boards in proper position with reference to the frame, and its rollers.
The present invention has relation to gates known as sliding and hinged gates, and it consists in the different parts and combination of parts hereinafter described and particularly pointed out in the claim.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all of the figures of the drawings.
In the accompanying drawings A, represents the gate, which is constructed substantially as illustrated in Fig. 1.
The hinge post B, is securely seated in the ground or otherwise held in an upright position. To the post B, is securely attached the bracket 0, which bracket is attached to the post by means of suitable screws or clamping bolts.
The bracket 0 is provided with the arm a, which arm is provided with the aperture b, for the purpose of receiving and holding the pin 0. v
The frame D is substantially of the form shown in the drawings, and as shown, it is provided with parallel sides, held a short distance apart, between which sides is located one of the gate boards of the gate A. Theframe D, is provided with the rollers d, and the roller d, which are located an Tarranged substantially as shown in Fig. 4. The rollers d, are
for the purpose of suspending the gate, and the roller d is for the purpose of holding the gate proper in the desired position upon the rollers d, and at the same time preventing it from trembling or binding during the timeit is moved backward and forward.
For the purpose of preventing the gate from tilting so as to bind the strips e are placed upon the posts B, said strips being so arranged and adjusted that their front faces will come in line with the rear parallelside of the frame D.
For the purpose of providing for the free end of the gate to be moved up and down the the bracket 0, provided with the lateral arm I 0., having the aperture 12, the frame D, provided with the supporting rollers d, and the roller d located above the rollers d, and the strips e, located upon the post B, all arranged, substantially as shown and described and for the purpose specified. V
