CHARLES P. DIEGO, OF OWENSBOROUGH, KENTUCKY.
MOSQUITO-NET vFRAM E.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 530,164, dated December 4, 1894.
Application filed February 21. 1894. Serial No. 500,988. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, CHARLES P. DIEco, residing at Owensborough, in the county of Daviess and State of Kentucky, have invented a new and Improved Mosquito-Net Frame, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improved net supporting frame adapted to be detachably connected to a bedstead, and it has for its bjeot to provide a supporting frame of this kind of a simple and inexpensive nature, and inwhich the several parts are adjustably connected, whereby it can be secured to bedsteads of different sizes.
It has also for its object to provide a device of the character stated',in which the net supporting members can be quickly and conveniently raised by a person while lying in bed; and with other minor objects in view, which will hereinafter be referred to, the invention consists in such novel features of construction and peculiar combination of parts as will be first described in detail and then be particularly pointed out in the claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved net supporting frame or holder in position for use. Fig. 2'is a transverse section {taken on line 22 of Fig. 1) 0f the holder, the pivoted side members being shown raised in dotted lines. Fig. 3 is a'detail perspective view of the elevating means and head board bracket member. Fig. 4 is a detail view of the adjusting means hereinafter specifically referred to.
In the practical construction of my inven tion, I employ metal brackets A and B, one at each end, one of which A, I term the head board bracket, and the other B, the foot board bracket, as they are adapted to be respectively secured to the head and foot boards of the bedstead, and for such purpose such brackets have at their lower ends base portions a, and b, apertured for the passage of the fastening screws 0, 0, as shown. At the upper ends the brackets A and B have cross bars D D, and to each of such bars is secured a pair of pivoted arms E E, F F, which arms project to opposite sides of the bed, the ends of the arms E being connected to the ends of the arms F, by the longitudinal bars G G. It willbe noticed by reference to Figs. 1 and 3 that the said arms E and F are pivotally secured to the barsD in such a manner that their outer ends e,f, will overbalance their inner ends ef' and thereby normally swing to a horizontal position, they being held to such position by the studs H H, which form rests therefor, such studs being arranged a short distance outward from the pivots I, so that when the said arms E and E are raised beyond a vertical position they will be held elevated, as iudicated in dotted lines in Fig. 2.
On the head board bracket A at the outer ends are journaled levers J, having each a member-j, extendedinward toward the standard and terminating in an eyej', and an outwardly extending [I16lnb6lj having a crank or projecting portion 3' extended under the arms F, and a central portion j which is pivoted to the outer ends of the bar D, as shown. To the eyes j are secured the ends of a cord K, the ends of which extend down in aloop 7a to a point where it can be conveniently reached by the person resting in the bed.
So far as described it will be readily seen that. in case the occupant wishes to elevate the net at one or both sides of the bed, it will be only necessary topull on theloop It to pro- So duce the effect desired, and while making the bed, or for other desired purposes, the side arms can be swung up to a vertical position, where they will remain until lowered by hand.
To provide means whereby the support can be secured to beds of different lengths and widths the side bars G and the bars E and F are made adjustable, as shown most clearly in Fig. 4, by reference to which it will be noticed the said arms have elongated slots F and E'- and G, through which pass'securingbolts M and N, which are made fast to metal angle members 0, the parts being held to their adjusted positions, by the nuts P, as shown.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- 1. The combination of the brackets A and B having cross bars at their upper ends, the pivoted arms E and F, studs on such cross bars wardly from their pivots, the side bars G and which projects under the arms E F and a cord a the means for elevating the armsE and F, all having a loop portion connected at the ends substantially as shown and described.
2. In a mosquito not support, the combination with the brackets A having cross bars D, the pivoted arms E and F, and their connecting bars G, of the levers J pivoted to one of the bars D, having each a central or pivot portion, and oppositely extending arms, one of to the adjacent inner ends of the levers J all arranged substantially as shown and described.
