Description

(Nb Model.)
D. ROTH.
GARMENT CLASP.
No. 527,887. Patented Obt. 23,1894.
TATES PATENT Fries.
DAVID ROTH, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
GARMENT-CLASP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters PatentNo. 527,887, dated October 23, 1 894.
Application filed September 4, 1894. Serial No. 521.997. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, DAVID ROTH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Garment- Clasp, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to clasps for garments, and consists in the new constructions and combinations substantially as hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings-Figure 1 is a front face view of my new clasp. Fig. 2 is an edge View of the same. Fig. 3 is a vertical section of the same.
A is a plate having a loop for attaching it to the webbing for garters, suspcnder ends or other uses.
B is a slotted opening in rowed toward the lower end.
O isa lever having flanged sides 0 and is pivoted between cars a on the plate A. On the pintle, between the flanges c is provided a coil spring 8, for the purpose of throwing the lever outward, when free, as seen in Fig. 3.
D is a tongue pivoted between the flanges c at about the midlength of the lever O, and is provided with a button 01 atits moving end,
said plate, narwhich engagesinthe opening B in the plate A.
The method of applying this clasp is as follows: With the clasp open as seen in Fig. 3, place the fabric between the plate and the tongue, then press down the tongue, forcing the fabric through the opening 13, then push down the lever which carries the button down in the slot with a portion of the fabric surrounding the neck of the button in the slot. The tongue is then held firmly in place and cannot slip by the pulling on the fabric.
The device is very efficient for the uses to which it is applicable.
Having described my invention, I claim A garment clasp consisting of a plate A, having slotted opening B, and ears a, a lever O pivoted in said cars, a spring 8 on said pivot, a tongue D pivoted to the lever O, a button 03 on said tongue, adapted to be inserted in thelarger part of the opening B and by pressing down the lever 0, force said button down and carry with it the fabric into the narrow part of said opening B, all of the parts located on the back of plate A, as shown and described.
DAVID ROTH.
