IMPROVEMENT IN NECKTIES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 52,557, dated February 13, 1866.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J. B. GARDINER, of Springfield, Hampden county, Commonwealth ot' Massachusetts, have invented anew and useful Improvement in Neckties; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof', reference being had to the accompanyin g drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon.
In the drawings, Figure l is a front view of my invention, Fig. 2 is a cross-section ofthe same. Fig. 3 is a cross-section ot a tie similar to Fig. 2, bnt formed on a curve. Fig: 4 is a rear View ot' the connection With the button of the shirt. Fig'. 5 shows another form of connection having' the extensions a a, whichA pass under thecollar and hold the tiein place, being` turned down behind, as Shown in Figli.
This invention consists in forming` a neellfie or bow so as to closely imitate a cloth bow or tie by striking up or embossing the same from paper, thin metal, or other suitable substance.
The construction of this invention is so simple as to be readily seen from the drawings, the sections, FiOs. 2 and 3, showing the form in which the material is raised or embossed. This is done in th'iscasehileanso/fdies, but
