UNITED STATES" PATENT OFFICE.
MARK A. SHELDON, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
CURLING-I'RONAHOLDER.
$.PEGIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 522,033, dated June 26, 1894.
Application filed February 13, 1894. Serial No. 500,047. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARK A. SHELDON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curling-Iron Holders, of whichthe following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
The invention consists in the peculiar construction of a hanger designed to be suspended upon the top of a chimney and having a perforated foot adapted to receive and support the end of a curling iron within the chimney, and furtherin the peculiar construction of a hanger whereby it may be readily detached.
In the drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of my improved device. Fig. 2 is a vertical, central section through a lamp chimney and my improved device showing the curling iron in position as when being heated.
A is a lampchimney to which I have shown my holder applied.
The holder consists of a hanger B having the arms 0 projecting from each side and at the topand acup shaped perforated foot D at the lower end and extending at substantially right angles from the stem of the hanger, these being struck from asingle piece of sheet metal. The arms 0 are adapted to rest upon the top of the chimney upon one side, as shown in Fig. 2 and the cnrlingi'ron shown in dotted lines at E in Fig. 2, is adapted to be supported by engaging the end thereof with the foot D which will cause the iron to assume an angular position across the chimney resting upon the opposite edge and throwing the handle F I beyond the side of the chimney so that it will be out of line with the heat from the chimney and thus will not be burned. On the upper dotted lines, so that it may be removed from the chimney withouthandling it. This whole device I strike from a single piece of sheet metal which enables me to construct it cheaply and yet make an attractive article in appearance; by suspending it in the top of the chimney I avoid clamps for fastening it.on the chimney which would make it difficult to remove without danger of lifting the chimney from the lamp.
What I claim as my invention is 1. A curlingiron holder consisting of a stem having extended arms at the top adapted to be hung upon the top of a chimney and aperforated foot extending out from one side only of the stem, at the bottom, substantially as described. Y
2. As a new article of manufacture, a curliron holder struck from a single piece of sheet metal and consisting of the stem B, the perforated cup shaped foot D at the lower end, the arms 0 extending from each side of the stem at the top of the angular ring shaped extension G, the parts combined as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I'affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
MARK A. SHELDON. Witnesses:
M. B. ODooHERTY, O. F. BARTHEL.
