Be it known that I, HENRY FISHER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sacra mento,1n the county of Sacramento and State of Cal fornia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Comb-Cleaners, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to toilet devices, and particularly to a comb cleaner, and its novelty will be fully understood from the following description and claims when taken in connection with the annexed drawings: and the object of the invention is to provide a cleaning and brushing device, of simple durable and cheap construction.

A further object of the invention is to provide a hollow holder for brushes and similar devices, having cleaning points.

A stlll further object of the invention is to provide a holder of peculiar form or shape to retain the cleaning brushing, and rubbing elements.

The inventionconsists in the novel construc- Mon and arrangement, as will be hereinafter more fully described and set up in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings forming part of this application :-Figure 1 is a top View. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the hollow holder. Fig. 3 is aplan view of the holder as it 1s stamped out. Fig. 4 shows a modification of the holder, in top view. Fig. 5 is a further modification in top view. Fig. 6 is a V1 6W of the blank stamped out as shown in Fig. 5. Fig. 7 is a top view showing a still further modification. Fig. 8 is a plan view of the blank holder stamped out as shown in Fig. 7. Fig. 9 shows a top view of a large device, having a handle. A

The holder A, of which A, A and A are simple modifications, when completed is hollow for the reception of brushes, rubber, or other similar devices, the same being stamped out of sheet metal, or otherwise produced.

The blank (Fig. 3), from which the holder A, and cleaning points are formed, is stamped out, leaving the said points opposite each other with the portions of the blank forming the hollow holder, the lips 5, between the said points, and a central reduced portion where the blank is bent or folded at B. The edges a, of the hollow holder A, are turned slightly inward, the holder being bent or folded upon itself at its rear end B, leaving the V shaped cleaning points 0, projecting from its forward end parallel with each other, and forming openings B, at two of its edges for the reception of brushes or other like devices. The retaining lips I), are formed in the same piece with the blank shown in Fig. 3 and at an angle between the cleaning points and body of the holder, and when the blank is folded (see Fig.2) the lips appear at one end of the openings B, and are turned or bent toward each other in order to close up the edge of the device between the openings and the cleaning points, and to'assist the edges a, to closely retain the brushes. and rubber in the hollow holder. At the juncture of the hollow holder, and the'cleaning points 0, the metal is pressed together leav-' ing a narrow shallow groove or depression 0, through which rivets e, are driven, to close the holder at this point. The brush D, and

rubber E, are inserted in the openings B ,of

the hollow holder, the depressed portions brought closely together by means of the rivets e, and the lips 19, bent or folded in toward each other, leaving the brush and rubber secured in the said holder. It will be observed, by inserting a temporary wedge between the cleaning points 0, while the depressions c, are being made, that when such wedge is withdrawn, the said cleaning points will stand rigidly apart parallel with each other from the said depressions to their outer ends.

Referring to Fig. 4 a more simplified form of hollow holder A, is shown. In a small device such as this, it is not necessary to turn edges a, as in Figs. 1 and 2, but the holder is stamped out, folded, and secured upon itself with the brush D, and rubber E, at two of its edges, to complete the article.

Figs. 5 and 6 show the hollow holder A in triangular form, the former figure containing the brush D, rubber E, and polishing stone or some similar material F. And has a slot f, through which the brush, rubber, orstone is inserted.

Referring to Fig. 6, the blank is stamped out with the cleaning points starting from the middle portion B, where it is slotted, and bent or folded upon itself to form the holder and parallel cleaning points as shown in Fig. 5.

Fig. 7 represents a square holder A which contains, beside the aforesaid elements an additional brush G, of very fine hair. So that the device may be used for brushing, cleaning, and polishing different articles.

In Fig.8 the blank is stamped out in squares A which are connected by the portion B, where it is bent upon itself, and the corner opposite the portion B, of each square is extended to form the cleaning points. This blank is folded as above stated and the squares secured together to retain the brushes and rubber as shown in Fig. 7. I therefore do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the hollow holder with the lips, to the particular material of which the elements in the holder are composed, nor to the number of such elements, but reserve to myself the right to use the hollow holder as described, with or without the particular character or number of brushing elements stated, without departing from the spirit of my invention.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. As a new article of manufacture, a combcleaner, comprisinga hollow holder open only at its side edges for the reception of brushes and rubber, and having cleaning points projecting from its forward end, and retaining lips at the end of the said open edges nearest the cleaning points, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.

2. Asa new article of manufacture, a comb cleaner comprising therein a hollow holder open at two of its edges to receive brushes and like devices, and having parallel cleaning points projecting from its forward end, and a depression at the juncture of the holder and cleaning points, as set forth.

3. As a new article of manufacture, a comb cleaner, comprising therein a hollow holder open at two of its edges to receive brushes and similar devices, and having parallel cleaning points projecting from its forward end, a depression at the juncture of the holder and cleaning points, and retaining lips at the said open edges, as set forth.
