(Application fil'ed Sept. 29, 1898.)
(No Model.)
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH H. RAY, OF BUTTE, MONTANA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-THIRD TO A. N. BOSENBAUM, OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH.
' COMBINED MoP AND BRUSH HOLDER.
$PECIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 625,628, dated May 23, 1899. Application filed September 29, 1898. Serial NOI 692,200. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH I-I. WRAY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Butte, in the county of Silver Bow and State of Montana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Scrubbing- Brush, Mop, and Window-Gleaner; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to a combined scrubbing-brush, mop, and window-cleaner; and the object is to provide a simple, inexpensive, and convenient device of this character.
To this end the invention consists in the construction, combination, and arrangement of the device, as will be hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claims.
The accompanying drawings show my invention in the best form now known to me; but many changes in the details might be made .within the skill of a good mechanic without departing from the spirit of my invention as set forth in the claims at the end of this specification.
The same reference characters indicate the same parts of the invention in the several Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved scrubbing-brush, mop, and windowcleaner combined, with a portion of one end broken away. Fig. 2 is a central transverse section.
1 denotes the brush-head, provided with the bristles 2 and having its body portion formed with a series of transverse orifices 3.
4 represents a box-like frame fixed to the back of the brush-head and having its upper end provided with a hinged cover 5, and 6 denotes a spring-clamp fixed to said cover and adapted to hold the mop-cloth 7 in place while in actual use.
8 denotes a rubber scraper fixed between the contiguous edges of the brush-head and the box.
9 represents the brush-handle extending when the mop cloth is not in actual use it may be twisted several times around the handle and its free end secured in the sprii1g-hook.
A cake or scraps of soap may be placed within the box, which is then dipped in the Water and allows the same to enter the box through the orifices 3 and of course to come in contact with the soap. The brush is then applied in the usual manner, and the soapy water will pass through the orifices 3 and be distributed over the surface to be cleaned by the action of the brush.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and useful, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, 1s-
1. In combination, the brush-head formed with the orifice 11, the box formed with the alined orifice 10, the handle secured in said orifices and a bolt extending through said brush-head, box and handle, substantially as shown and described.
2. In combination, the brush-head, the box, the cover hinged thereto, the spring-clamp fixed to said cover, the handle fixed in said head and box and the spring-hook fixed to said handle, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set nesses.
JOS. H. WRAY.
