Description
(No 11101161.) A 4 W. `I. CASTLEMAN.
PORTABLE FURNAE.
No. 519,936.N 1211611161111@ 1, 1894.
i UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
W'ILLIAM ISAAC CASTLEMAN, O F ALLENS SPRING, ILLINIS, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO PLESANT GREEN DITTERLINE, OF SAME PLACE.
POR'I'AELFQFURNACE.``
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 519,236, dated May 1, 1894. Application filed May 25, 1893. Serial No. 475,454. `(No modell) To all whom, it may concern.-
Beit known that LWILLIAM IsAAo CASTLE@ MAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Allens Spring,in the county of Pope and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Portable Furnaces; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use y the same.
This invention-relates to certain new and i useful improvements in portable or kettle furnaces. i
The object of the invention is'to provide p a simple and inexpensive construction in a furnace of this class, which shall prove thoroughly efficient and satisfactory inuse.
A further object is to employ a novel arrangement of parts by which the pot orvessel may be supported at any desired height above the furnace. t i
With these and other objects in view varif ous novel details and combinations of parts are employed, which will be hereinafter more fully set forth and specifically pointed out in the claims following the description.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification and wherein like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both views: Figure 1:- is a view in perspective, showing one form of portable furnace, constructed and arranged to embody my improvements. Fig. 2:-=- is a similar view of a slightly modied form. y In the construction of the supporting stand or tripod, I preferably employ asingle length rod, which is bent up to form a ring-like body portion -a. Thisbody portion is provided with outwardly inclined legs `a2ot2 which may be formed integral with the ring.
Referring to Figs. l and 2, the legs -a2- 0.2- are shown twisted at a point -ato form pockets -a approximately U shaped, for the reception of lugs or projections -bof the pot or vessel -B-. Again, they may be bent as in Fig.` 2, to form a series of pockets aon each leg, thereby allowing for the adjustment of the aforesaid Vessel to any height desired.
It will be understood that I do not wish to limit myself to the exact construction herein shown and described, as detailt changes may be made without departing from the general idea involved.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is i In a portable furnace, a. `supporting stand or tripod consisting of a ring-like body portion having downwardly inclined legs with one or more pockets or rests formed on each` of said legs, in vcombination with a vessel provided with projections adapted for entering the pockets, as specified.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM ISAAC CASTLEMAN.
