Description

UNITED vS'IA'rns PATENT OFFICEy ROB. C. HAYTON AND CHARLES A. HURLBURT, OF YPSILANTI, MICHIGAN.
IMPROVEMENT 'IN SAW-BUCKS.
Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 164,556, dated June l5, 1875; application filed March 30, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, It. G. HAYTON and C. A. HURLBURT, of Ypsilanti, in the county of Washtenaw and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Saw-Bucks; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form part of this specification.
The nature of our invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a saw-buck, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which our invent-ion appertains to make and use the same, we Will now proceed to describe its construct-ion andoperation, referring to the annexed dra-wing, which represents a cross-section of our saw-buck.
Each side of our saw-buck is colnposed of an ordinary iron cross, A, such as are used for connecting gas-pipe, to make the rest for the stick of wood upon the saw-buck. This cross consists of a piece of iron, hollow at all the four ends, with or without interior screw threads. Into each of these ends is screwed or driven an arm, B, to complete the side of the saw-buck. The arms B B may be made of Wood or metal, and if made of metal we prefer to make them of hollow tubing, as shown in the drawing. On the arms, which form the legs of the saw-buck, are placed ordinary T-jonts C, for the attachment of the foot-brace D. These T-joints and foot-brace need only be used on one side of the saw-buck. On the other side a rod or brace, E, may be simply screwed into the legs, it' so desired.
Having thus fully described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the cross A, arms B, T-joints C, and foot-brace D. all substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that We claim the foregoing as our own we aix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
BOB. G. HAYTON. CHARLES A. HURLBURT. Witnesses:
S. M. CUTCHEON, FRED. A. HUNT.
