Beitknown that I, IRVIN I-I. REED, a citizen of the United States, residing at Leadville, in the county of Lake and State of Colorado, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Detachable Stock Connections for Hand-Firearms,of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to an improvement in detachable stock connections for hand fire arms and it consists in the construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and definitely pointed out in the claim.

The aim and purpose of this invention is the provision of improved means for quickly and accurately attaching and detaching a stock to and from a pistol or revolver handle or grip.

The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several views, and in which- Figure 1 is an elevation of the stock in place. Fig. 2 is alongitudinalsection of the connecting portion of the same and Fig. 3 is an elevation illustrating the grip in the process of being applied.

In the drawings A represents the pistol or revolver grip, formed with a socket a in its front near the lower edge, a socket to in its base and a socket a in its rear at a point above the plane of socket a.

B represents the detachable stock consisting of the stock proper and the metallic connectin g portions 13 This connecting portion consists of an integral frame having a lower bar I) which extends back, is embedded in the stock and there secured. The upper bar Z) of the frame is carried back and secured to the stock in a manner similar to the under bar. At the forward end of bar I) is an enlargement b having a cylindrical, longitudinal opening therein in which a sliding bolt O is placed its end projecting through an aperture in the front bar B of the connecting portion. This bolt has a spring 5 at its rear which is held in place and adjusted by a screw plug 6 in the end of the cylindrical opening. In the sides of this enlargement b are formed elongated slots 6 through which suitable pins 1) pass and engage the bolt.

On the outer ends of pins 11 are the thumb pieces 22' fitting closely onto the metal of the enlargement and having shoulders on their front edges whereby the same may be moved back by the thumb and one finger and thereby withdraw the bolt. On the lower end of the cross-bar B is a forwardly extending arm D having an upturned end D. On this end is a fixed inwardly extending lug d and on the arm intermediate its end is an inwardly extending lug d. The lugs d d register with and enter thesockets a-a' respectively while the bolt 0 registers with the socket a of the revolver handle.

In applying the stock the lug (Z is inserted in the socket a the handle being at an incline, the handle of the pistol is forced down, the bolt engaging the rear thereof and being forced in until the lug d is seated in the socket a and the bolt registers with the socket a. when the same is immediately forced into the socket by the spring. To detach the stock the bolt is withdrawn and the handle tilted forward.

It is evident that slight changes in the device may be made and substituted for those herein shown and described. I

In a detachable stock for hand fire arms the combination with a hand grip of the fire arm, having sockets a-a and a therein, ofastock having a connection section consisting of attaching side bars, the upper bar having an enlargement at its forward end formed with a longitudinal chamber therein, and elongated slots in its sides, a spring actuated bolt in the chamber, pins on the bolt extending through the slots, thumb-pieces on the pins, an arm exten ding forward from the lower bar, formed with an upturned forward end and fixed inwardly extending lugs on the extension and upturned end adapted to enter the sockets in the handles, substantially as described.
