SAMUEL L. CONDE, OF ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS.

TYPE-WRITER CABINET.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 517,031, dated March 2'7, 1894.

Application filed February 24, 1893. Serial No. 463,641. (No model.)

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SAMUEL L. CoNDE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rockford, in the county of Winnebago and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Type-Writing Cabinets, of which the following is a specification.

The object of this invention is to produce a movable platform for a type-writer, located within a suitable cabinet, and consists of a platform pivoted at one corner, and when at rest either out of or in the cabinet, its free end will be supported by resting upon a roller.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1, is a perspective view of a cabinet employing my improvements showing the type-writer platform turned within the cabinet. Fig. 2, is a similar view showing the platform extended. Fig. 3, is a perspective view of the incline secured to the under face of the platform. Fig. 4 is an under face view of the pivoted platform showing the inclined blocks.

The cabinet 1, is of rectangular form which may be supported upon suitable legs, having a lid 2, hinged thereto, and connected by slotted braces 3. Pigeon holes 4, are located within the cabinet 1. To the inner side and left-hand corner of the cabinet is secured a base 5, provided with ears 6, between which is pivoted an extension 7. A type-writer platform 8, of rectangular form is secured to this extension at one corner, thereby forming a pivotal connection between the platform and cabinet proper. 10, and 11, so that the lowest portions of the inclines are facing each other, and to the upper surface of the bottom of the cabinet is secured a roller 12.

In use the type-writer is located upon the platform, and when not in use the platform is moved upon its pivotal connection with the cabinet and swung within the cabinet, and in such position the inclined block under the corner 10, will rest upon the roller, and when the type-writer is desired for use the platform is moved outward until the inclined block under the corner 11, rests upon the roller, and in each of these positions the vertical portion of the incline blocks will act as stops,limiting the further movement of the platform, and serving to support the free end of the platform, thereby relieving the hinge of a portion of its strain.

I claim as my invention- A type writer cabinet having a typewriter platform pivoted at one front corner to the cabinet, inclined blocks having depending ends secured to the under face of the inner and outer ends of the platform and a roller secured to the front of the cabinet located beneath the platform to be engaged by the inclined blocks upon the platform when moved upon its pivot, the depending ends forming stops to the movement of the platform in either direction.
