Description

(NO Model.)
W ESELY Patented Feb. 6, 1894.`
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
VEIT* WESELY, OF VIENNA, AUSTRIA-HUNGARY.
WATCH-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 514,050, dated February 6, 1894.
Application filed March 23, 1893. Serial No. 46 7332- (N model.)
Hitherto it was necessary to use about twenty-five difierent sizes of cases, receptacles or holders for the different sizes of watches. According to the present invention it is sufficient to provide only two normal sizes of holders, cases or supports for gentlemen s and ladies watches respectively.
In the annexed drawings Figure 1 is a view from above; Fig. 2 a View from below, and
Figs. 3 and 4: are transverse sections of the new and improved watchholder or support.
The neck of the watch to be Secured on the holder is inserted into the slit a of the hook b arranged on the holder or support and is pressed against this hook by means of a binding device or holdfast c under the influence of a springf. For this purpose the binding device or holdfast c is connected with a slide d bent at d' and guided on a bar e in such a manner, that a spring f arranged on this bar e will have the tendency to press the part d' of slide d and consequently the binding device or holdfast c against or toward the hook b, but will permit to withdraw or pull down by hand (in overcoming the force of the spring) the binding device or holdfast c so far as is necessary for placing the watch between the parts b and c of the holder. The construction and arrangement of the slide d, spring f and guide e may be varied without departing from the nature of the present invention. By covering the parts or mounting the same in cases or receptacles (tm's) these watchholders may be completed or decorated at will.
It will be seen that the plate d is right angular in shape the long side being guided in the cavity in the under side of the base plate while the short side extends through an opening in the base plate into the front cavity to engage the watch. The spring is concealed in the under cavity and it will be noticed that by the peculiar Construction of the front and rear cavities the casing itself forms end stops 1, 2 adapted to limit the movement of the right angular slide.
Having now particularly described and as-^ certained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is- In combination the base plate having the fixed hook b on its front side, the right angular movable plate comprising the hold fast, said base plate having front and rear cavities, the latter of which receives and guides the long arm of the right angular plate, the guide rod in said rearcavity passing through the end of the right angular plate and the spring arranged in said rear cavity encircling said rod and acting upon the right angular plate, substantially as described.
In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand in presence of two witnesses.
VEIT WESELY.
