Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Corn-Huskers, of which the following is a specification.

The corn husker to which the invention that is herein described pertains is of that class in which a hnsking pin is provided with a cot or cover for the forefinger, adjustable loop straps for the other fingers, and guard straps between the huskingpin and part of the fingers and hand.

The object of this invention is to produce a corn husker of the class referred to which w1ll be economic of manufacture, durable, strong, easily and positively adjustable, efficient in operation, and in which the parts are substitutive, and the parts most subject to wear are separate and separable, from the other parts, and easily removable when they become worn, for substitution of duplicates thereof; and to this end and object my invention consists in novel structural features, and novel organization of parts producing the composite structure, my improved corn husker, hereinafter described and. particularly specified in the claims forming part of this specification.

A corn husker embodying the preferred constructive forms of, and showing the organization of the parts forming the subject matter of my improvement, is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective of myimproved corn husker in place on a hand; Fig. 2, aside elevation, partly in perspective, of the husker; Fig. 3, a central sectional elevation of the husker, lengthwise thereof Fig. 4, a sectional elevation of a modification of the parts at one end of the husker.

The husking pin A may be of any ordinary construction, but a preferred construction or form thereof is shown in the drawings, and consists of an ordinary pin concave on one side and convex on its other side in its transverse section, with a body part a and an ordinary curved end part a.

A guard strap 13 is folded transversely of itself upon the body part a of the pin A,

which rests upon the second, third and fourth fingers and part of the hand, to form a guard strap between the pin and said fingers and part of the hand. The guard strap Bis held in place on the back of the pin A by rivets b, 1), b and has an outwardly turned end b A loop strap C has one of its ends located between the guard strap B and the pin, and is secured to the pin by the rivets 1), b and between the rivets b',b a loop 0' of the strap C passes out through a slot 12 in the strap B, and with this loop 0' an elongated eye or ring 0 is interlocked and fixed in place. The return end c of the strap C is curved and passed loosely through the ring 0 to form a loop or receptacle 0 for the small finger. The return end 0 of the strap C extends beyond the ring c to where it is adjustably connected with a loop strap 0 by a buckle c. The other end of the loop strap 0 passes under the outwardly turned end b of the strap 13 to hold it in the position shown, and thence between the strap B and the pin A, where it is secured to the pin by the rivet b. The strap 0 and the end of the strap C form a loop or receptacle 0 for the second and third fingers.

By evident adjustment of the return end of the strap C through the eye or ring 0 and of the two loop straps C and 0 by the buckle, the sizes of the loops or receptacles c and 0 can be adjusted separately or both together, for fitting fingers and hands of difierent sizes.

In the modification shown at Fig. 4, the end of the strap C is outside of the guard strap B, where it receives the rivet b and passes through the slot 11 to a position between the guard strap B and the pin A, where it receives the rivet b, and the eye or ring 0 is fixed in a loop in the strap C, as shown.

As shown in the principaLfigures of the drawings, and also in the modification by Fig. 4, the loop strap C, to form the loop or receptacle 0 passes through an eye or ring 0 which eye or ring is fixed in place by a small loop in said strap C, and the two straps C and c with only one end of each fixed to the pin A, are made to form both loops or finger receptacles c and 0 which are adjustable in size relatively to each other and together, by simply adjusting their ends by the buckle c. The distinctive peculiarity of this part of my improvement will be more apparent by-observing that a single loop strap can be applied, as shown, to form the adjustable loops or receptacles c and c by simply forming the straps O and c of one strap by connected ends where it is fixed between the strap B and the pin A.

The finger cot E for the forefinger is formed to extend well along said finger for protection thereto, and the edges of the blank from which it is formed are preferably united by a series of rivets e, which while uniting said edges, serve at the same time to increase its wearing quality. Other rivets 6' may also be used on its places most subject to wear to secure wear plates 6 of leather or other suitable material thereto. The cot E is shown as fixed to the forward part of the strap 0 and to the upturned end b of the strap B, by a rivet e", which thus serves to secure the cot in place and at the same time to fix the free end b to the strap 0 where it should be held as a guard for the side of the finger which rests thereagainst. The cot E thus rigidly fixed by a rivet to the strap 0 will have all the freedom of movement necessary for the forefinger by reason of the strap a yielding for that purpose. If preferred, the cot E may be fixed to the curved end part a of the pin.

I do not claim herein the outwardly turned end 12 of the guard strap B, nor its combination with the loop strap, as such subject matter is claimed by me in another application pending concurrently herewith.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. A corn husker, comprising, substantially as hereinbefore described, a pin, a strap, as C, riveted at one end to the pin, looped to fix an eye or ring 0' in place, through which eye or ring it passes to form a loop or finger receptacle c and a strap 0 also riveted at one end to the pin, curved rearwardly and adj ustably secured to the end of the strap 0 to form a loop or finger receptacle c 2. Acorn husker comprising, substantially as hereinbefore described, a pin, a strap, as G, riveted at one end to the pin, an eye or ring a fixed to the pin, through which eye or ring the strap 0 passes to form a loop or finger receptacle 0, and a strap 0 also riveted at one end to the pin, curved rearwardly and adj ustably secured to the end of the strap 0 to form a loop or receptacle 3. A corn hnsker comprising, substantially as hereinbefore described, a pin, a strap, as C, riveted at one end to the pin, looped to fix an eye or ring 0' in place, through which eye or ring the return end of the strap 0 passes to form a loop or finger receptacle 0, a strap 0 also riveted at one end to the pin, curved rearwardly and adj ustably secured to the end of the strap 0 to form a loop or finger receptacle c and a finger cot, as E, fixed to the strap 0 In testimony whereof I afllx my signature in presence of two witnesses.
