Be it known that I, FRANCIS W. PULEoED, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oars0n,in the county of Montcalm, State of Michigan,have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Facial-Symmetry-Restoring Devices; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon,which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to a device for preserving and restoring facial symmetry, and consists in the construction and arrangement of parts, as hereinafter fully set forth, the essential features of which being pointed out particularly in the claims.

The object of the invention, is to provide means for reforming 0r restoring to symmetrical shape, distorted or illy formed lips, and a further provision whereby a dropsical formation under the jaw and chin is obviated and the cheeks rendered round and full. This object is attained by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a view showing the application of my improved device. Fig. 2 is a plan of same. Fig. 3 is an enlarged section on dot ted line 3-3 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4is an enlarged section on dotted linear-4 of Fig. 2.

Referring to the letters of reference, A designates an elastic sheet substantially rhombic in form and made preferably of rubber. Said sheet is provided with a central oblong aperature a therethrough, the edges of which are tied by means of the cross strips 0, to prevent said aperture from spreading. This central opening registers with the mouth of the wearer, and on each side of said opening is a depression or concavity e to receive the lips, as shown in Fig. 3. Attached to opposite corners or ends'of said sheet, are the straps b, which are provided in their outer ends with a series of eyelets i, to effect a proper adj ust ment thereof.

O designates a broad flexible or elastic band, that is adapted to pass under the chin and be secured over the top of the head.

. Upon this band on each side is secured a spring stud it, that is adapted to enter the eyelets in the straps b, to secure the ends of said straps and retain the sheet A in place with proper tension.

This device is designed to be worn at night. In cases where the lips are thick and full, they may be reduced by driving the rubber sheet A tightly across them and secured in this position by attaching the straps b to the band C. The pressure on the lips forces the blood therefrom causing a decrease of its circulation, thereby reducing cell activity, and effecting consequent reduction in the size of the lips by continued use. If the lips are thin and it is desired to give them greater fullness, the rubber sheet A is first drawn out endwise before being applied to the face, and is then placed over the mouth and lips and allowed to contract so as to pucker the lips and cause them to stand out and fill the depressions e, in said rubber,in which protruded portion the lips are retained and molded.

The elastic band C prevents a dropsical formation under the chin and jaw, and by forcing such formation upward, the cheeks are rendered round and full, said band also serving by means of the strip '1) thereon, to retain- 1. 2. A facial molding device, consisting of an elastic molding sheet adapted to fit over, and having depressions to receive the lips, said sheet also having a central opening for the mouth, and means for applying said sheet to the lips and face with drawing tension.
