Description

my 20 1926. 1,593,042 r A. STREULI I PROTECTOR Filed Sept. 25, 1925 Patented my 20, 1926.
PATENT OFFICE.
ALFRED STBEULI, OF GALVESTON, TEXAS.
PROTECTOR;
' Application filed September 25, 1925. Serial No. 58,528.
' This invention relates to protectors and more particularly to that class of protectors used to protect the face, eyes and neckof persons having their hair shampoocd. Pcrsonshaving their heads shampooed, or having their ,heads Washed have difficulty in keeping the Water and suds from getting in their eyes, mouth and ears and down their neck, and one object of the invention is to provide a device of the character described that will overcome this difficulty.
Another object of the invention is to proride a device of the character described which will be light, inexpensive and comfor-table to the wearer and which may be made to fitgthe heads of various persons. With the above and other objects in view the invention has particular relation to certain novel features of construction, operation and arrangement of parts which is described and claimed in this-specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings,
wherein I Figure l ;1s a plan view, partly in sec- 2 tion, of the device.
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken on the line a-a of Figure l, and
Figure 3 shows the device as applied to the head while in use. I
Referring now -more particularly to the "drawings, wherein like numerals of reference designate similar features in each of the figures, the numeral 1 refers to the protector as a whole, which is preferably made of rubber, the numeral 2 refers to the brim which is of convenient width, usually manufactured and very useful about the width of a hat brim, which is somewhat thickened at the at 3.
A head band 4 is provided to fit snugly 40 around the head'of the wearer near the hair line and is made elastic so as to fit more than one sized head and to keep water, and soap suds fromgetting in the eyes or on the face and neck of the wearer when he is 4 getting a shampoo or getting his head washed. This band is relatively thick at its base and tapers to a thinnpper edge as shown in Figure 2 of the drawings and edges as shown when pulled down upon the head of them wearer, being elastic, fits the head tightly' and prevents the soapy or other water from getting to the face of the wearer. This. device may be stiffened as much. as
desired by insertion of stifieners 5, or in any other suitable manner, that will keep the 'brim 2 stifl enough to stand out from the head of the wearer.
A device of this character is cheaply for the purpose for which it is intended.
What I claim is A protector comprising a substantially annular flexible brim having a central open ing to receive the head of the wearer, said opening being surrounded by an elastic head band to whi'chthe brim is secured, said band having arelatively thick base and tapering to a thin upper ed e.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
' ALFRED STREULI.
