Description

R. E. LEE BEAUTICIAN'SYAID May 16, 1967 Filed Nov. 25, 1964 United States Patent 3,319,262 BEAUTHCEANS AID Robert Edward Lee, Rte. 1, Box 240, Joaquin, Tex. 75954 Filed Nov. 25, 1964, Ser. No. 413,932 2 Claims. (Cl. 2-174) This invention relates to head gear and more particularly to an attachment for the head for use when washing hair.
It is a primary object of the present invention to provide a beauticians aid which, during the shampooing procedure, will keep water from splashing into the face of the customer, thus making a customer more comfortable.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a beauticians aid which will have drainage means for directing the water and shampoo around the perimeter of the head and into a basin or other receptacle.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a beauticians aid which will cup the customers ears, thus preventing them from getting wet.
Other objects of the invetnion are to provide a beauticians aid bearing the above objects in mind which is of simple construction, has a minimum number of parts, is inexpensive to manufacture and eflicient in operation and use.
For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, in which:
FIGURE 1 is a side view of the present invention shown in operative use;
FIGURE 2 is a top plan view of the invention; and
FIGURE 3 is a view taken along the lines 3--3 of [FIGURE 2.
Referring to the drawing, a guard 12 of flexible plastic or other suitable material which serves to encompass the customers head 13 directs liquid rearward of head 13. A pair of elliptical cups 14 integral with guard 12 provide a means for receiving the ears of the customer and may contain disposable foam rubber pads, not shown. The rear of guard 12 forms a bill 16 and thus directs fluid rearwardly of the customer and into bowl 18. A groove 20 in the upper side of guard 12 terminates into bill 16 and provides trough means to direct the liquid rearwardly onto bill and into bowl 18 and thus to protect the customer from getting the fluids into his face or eyes.
In operation, guard 12 is placed into position upon the head 13 with the bill 16 rearward, and when shampooing or tinting the hair or the like, the liquids flow down into groove 20 and are thus directed rearwardly onto bill 16 and from there into bowl 18. The guard 12 is placed so as to have the cups 14 encase the ears of the customer, thus protecting the customer from getting water into his ears.
It shall be recognized that guard 12 and bill 16 and the 3,319,262 Patented May, 16, 1967 cups 14 may be made of various materials of a flexible nature.
It shall further be recognized that guard 12 may not be continuous, if desired, but may have snap fasteners to thus secure the ends together, or may employ other suitable fastening means.
While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims.
What I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is:
1. A beauticians aid comprising:
(a) a substantially circular flexible member adapted to extend about the head of a person;
(b) a trough means formed in the upper surface of said member;
(c) said trough means extending about the front and sides and extending to the rear of the flexible member for gravity flow of liquids placed on the head toward the rear of the flexible member;
(d) a pair of cup-shaped ear shield means joined to said flexible member at opposing positions located for encompassing the ears on the head;
(e) said cup-shaped ear shield means being positioned adjacent to said trough means to permit liquid flow past the ears of the head, said means further including a closed upper surface for shielding the ears of the user and wherein said closed surface cups the ears; and
(f) a bill formed integrally with said flexible member and extending outwardly about the rear portion of the flexible member, said trough means merging into said bill wherein liquid flowing in said trough means is directed onto said bill.
2. The combination according to claim 1, wherein said flexible member is of rectangular cross section and an opening formed through said member provides a means for encircling the head.
