This invention relates to a protective visor and has for its primary object to protect the face and ears of a customer from the disagreeable effect of heat applied to the hair for the purpose of dryin it, or setting waves in it.

Another object of the invention is to insure sanitary conditions in beauty parlors and similar establishments by providing each customer with a fresh unused protective visor which may be disposed of after use.

Still another important object of my invention is to protect the hair of the user during the application of make-up, washes, and face creams.

The above and other objects may be attained by employing this invention which embodies among its features a body of sheet material of oval peripheral contour having a substantially centrally disposed head receiving opening therein, a compressible head band formed intergrally with the body adjacent the head receiving opening and means to adjust the body to fit the head of a wearer.

Other features include ear receiving recesses in the body on opposite sides of the head receiving opening adjacent the head band to accommodate the upper portions of the ears of the wearer when the device is placed on the head.

Referring to the drawings in detail my improved wiser designated generally l0 comprises an oval body ll formed with a substantially centrally located oval head receiving opening I 2, and a radial slot [3 which extends to the rear of the device.

Formed adjacent the head receiving opening I 2 is an upturned flange l3 which as shown is preferably rolled to form a smooth head contacting edge, and extending through the flange l3 and opening into the head receiving opening I! are spaced slots M to form a cushioned head band for engagement with the head of the user.

Formed in the body H near the head band, and on opposite sides of the head receiving opening [2 are ear receiving recesses [5 for the accommodation of the upper portions of the ears when the device is in use. The walls of these depressions I 5 are preferably formed integral with the body, being pressed upwardly therefrom as illustrated in Figure 3 at the time of formation of the visor.

The opposite sides of the body bordering opposite side edges of the slot l3 are provided with corrugations l6 and i1 respectively and the corrugations l6 are provided with spaced slots l8 for the reception of an attaching tongue l9 formed on the end of the corrugated portion ll of the body ii. By overlapping the edges of the body formed by the slot l3 and interengagin-g the corrugations l6 and I! it will be obvious that the sides of the head receiving opening l2 may be altered to fit the head of the user, and by introducing the tongue l9 into one of the slots I8 the corrugations may be held in inter-fitting relation.

In use it will be understood that the visor is placed over the head of the wearer, for instance as illustrated in Figure 6 after which the corrugations N5 and II are arranged in overlapped inter-engaging relations to insure the proper fitting of the head receiving opening about the head of the wearer, after which the tongue [9 may be entered through one of the slots I8 and bent to insure pro er locking of the parts in adjusted position. By thus altering the size of the visor body II it will be obvious that it will assume a substantially conical shape as illustrated in Figures 5 and 6 and when turned as illustrated in Figure 5 it will form an effective deflector to direct heated air being employed on the hair away from the face, neck and ears of the user. In event that the device is used as a support for and to protect the hair in applying makeup the body II is turned in the opposite direction as illustrated in Figure 6 so as to clear the face and hold the hair out of the way. Since it is contemplated that the visors It! will be made from cardboard or similar sheet material it is obvious that after it has served its purpose it may be disposed of so that for each new customer a fresh unused visor will be employed. In this way :the sanitary conditions in beauty parlors and like establishments may be preserved and still the customers may enjoy the comforts afforded by the visors.

While in the foregoing ther has been shown and described the preferred embodiment of this invention it is to be understood that minor changes in the details of construction, combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to Without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

I claim:

1. A disposable protective visor comprising an oval body of sheet material having a substantially centrally disposed head receiving opening therein and a radial slot extending from the head receiving opening to the periphery of the body, a compressible head band formed integrally with the body adjacent the head receiving opening, the body having radially disposed corrugations adjacent each side edge of the slot and means for holding the corrugations in interfitting adjusted rela tions whereby the body may be adjusted to fi difierent sized heads.

2. A disposable protective visor comprisin an :tions whereby the body may be adjusted to fit different sized heads, and said body having ear receiving recesses on opposite sides of the head receiving opening adjacent the headband.
