Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
OYRUSKW. SALADEE, OF NEWARK, OHIO..
IMPROVEMENTS IN SNAP-LINKS.
Spccication forming part of Letters Patent No. 51,088, dated November 21, 1865.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CYRUs W. SALADEE, of Newark, county of Licking, in the State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Mode ot' Constructing Snap-Links; and I d0 hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to theletters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in an additional improvement upon my snap-link patented on the 26th day of September, 1865, whereby I combine a ring or other suitable device for holding a strap or chain to one end of the link, while the other end may be snapped into the bit-ring of bridles, Sto.
In the drawings, A and B represent my snaplink patented September 26, 1865.
C is a loose ring secured to the back end of the linkAin the manner substantially as shown in Figures l and 2. This ring U may be bent into the forni of a loop, and which form will be most desirable when the end of a strap is to be secured to it; but for other general uses I think the ring as shown in the drawings to be the best and most simple form which may be adapted for the purposes stated.
When the link A is cast of malleable iron a hole is left through the rear end of the body of the link for the reception of the ring C or its equivalent, but when made of wroughtiron (as will most generally be the case) the iron is bent around the ring, as shown in Fig. l.
Having thus fully described the nature of my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The ring C 0r its equivalent, in combination with the snap-linkAB, in the manner and for the purpose substantially as shown and described.
GYRUS W. SALADEE. Witnesses:
JOHN MURRAY, E. A. SALADEE.
