My invention relates to fasteuings for blinds, &c., and consists in the combination of devices and parts hereinafter particularly described and set forth in the claim. And the object of my invention is to provide a simple form of hook keeper which may be readily applied and secured to the pintle portion of a hinge of a blind, and hold in situation a pivoted hook for ready engagement with an eye secured to the blind. I attain this object by the means illustrated in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a plan view of my improved blind fastener when applied to a blind or shutter, and holding the same open. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is a View of the device from the outside, and when the blind or shutter is closed and the hook is out of engagement with the eye secured to the blind, and Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the hook keeper and its hook, when detached from the pintle portion of the hinge of the blind or shutter.

The same letters of reference refer to similar parts throughout the several views.

In the drawings A represents the hook keeper comprising the horizontal portion a and the vertical portion a, which portions are integral. The horizontal portion a, of this hook keeper, is provided with perforation B, of diameter corresponding with that of the pintle e of the pintle portion E of the hinge of the blind or shutter, and is also provided with the downwardly projected ears a o The said perforation B is of diameter corresponding with that of the pintle e, so as to receive the same when the said hook keeper is in place on the said pintle portion E, as shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3; and the said cars a a are projected from the lower side of the said horizontal portion a, and are set apart to such a distance as to nicely receive between them the shank portion 6 of the pintle portion E, when the pintle e is projected upwardly through the said perforationBas shown. D is a suitable hook which is pivoted to the vertical portion a of the hook keeper, preferably by the said bolt 01' passed through the pivot end-of the said hook, and through such a one of the perforations cl as may be required for giving the hook an extension out past the keeper for engagement of the hook with the holding device 0 on the blind, and secured by a nut d as shown. This holding device 0 may consist of any suitable form of eye secured to the frame of the blind or shutter by any suitable means, yetasimple screweye, marked 0 in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, screwed into the wood of the blind is preferred.

This fasteningis applied to one of the hinges of the blind (preferably the lower one when the blind is removed, so as to separate the strap portion of the hinges from their pintle portions) by passing the pintle (2 through the hole B, provided in the horizontal portion a of the hook keeper, and lowering the said keeper down to the shank portion 6' of the hinge, with the ears 0. a straddling the same as shown, when a suitable pin or key a passed through key holes ofland beneath the shank e as shown in Fig. 3, will hold the keeperlocked from raising out of place, while the pintle e of the hinge, passing through hole B, will prevent this hook keeper from shifting horizontally in any direction.
