RAZOR-STROP CAS E.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 503,443, dated November 14, 1893.
' Application filed Apri118, 1893. Serial Ne. 470.824. %Ne model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WALTER F. SMITH, of
New Bedford, in the county of Bristol and- State of Massachusetts have invented a new and useful Razor-Strop Case, of which the following is a specification, 'reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which-- Figure 1 is a side View; Fig. 2 an end View, and Fig. 3 is a section on line x-x,` Fig. 2.
IO The object of my invention is to produce a dust-proof razor strop case into which the strop is automatically reeled up' after use, and which is capable of being Secured to a hook or the like during the stropping of the 5 razor.
My invention consists in details of construction of razor strop cases in which the strop, when not in use, is coiled up within the case on a spring controlled spindle; and
zo from which the strop'is pu11ed,for use, against the force of. the spring.
The features of my invention are pointed out and claimed hereinafter.
In the drawin s, a is the case, a' the e "e b a substantial ly dust-proof, a Very important point in order to protect the material upon the work-surface of the strop and to hide the strop from sight when coiled within the case.
This isa feature of my invention. The strop b is Secured at its inner end to holiow spindle b', head h of which is centered upon projec- 40 Vtion b from one head of case a. Removable head & isforrned with a slight projection a which extends into hoilow spindle b' and engages one end of the coiied spring ?9 The end of spindle b' has its bearings upon a boss a on the inner surface of the removable head a which screws upon the end of case a at c As one end of spring b is engaged by the projection a and the inner end of spring ?3 is Secured at the inner end of spindle b', 5o screwing head a on case a, coils spring ?9 so that the strop is pulled out against the force of the spring and is automatically returned into the case when the outer end of the strop is released. The rib b then fits snugly into 5: slit a and closes the case.
What I claim is- The herein described combination with case a, formed with an eye a', a slot a a projection b on its inner surface, a cover a? which 6o screws on case a and is provided with a slit projection`a and a boss ai ot' a hollow spindleb'tjournaled at one end upon the projection b provided with an interiorcoiled spring fixed at one end of said spindle and journaled 'at its other end upon boss a the slit projection ai* from screw cover a holding one end of the coiled spring ?3 all substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
WALTER F. SMITH.
