Be itknown that I, PRoc'roE DEAN, of Chicago, Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Corkf screw, Match-Holder, dac., of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a combined pocket article, the principal features of which comprise a novel form of match holder, preferably 1o made in close imitation of apocketilask such as is used for carrying liquors, and havingl adapted and applied thereto a cork screw of novel construction and also preferably constructed to provide a stamp holder.

In carrying out the invention I preferably construct from sheet metal a receptacle in the form of a pocket flask having a telescopic bottom which can be withdrawn to permit access to the interior ofthe device which will zo be adapted to receive matches, and also preferably provided with a pocket to contain postage stamps. The neck or upper end of the flask shaped receptacle is preferably threaded on its interior, or otherwise adapted to receive the shank of a cork screw. The latter when not in use is concealed within the llask being inserted point foremost through the neck and a ilange of the shank engaging the top of the neck and supporting the cork screw. A screw cap is provided which covers the shank of the cork screw and the opening in the neck. When the cork screw is to be used it is withdrawn, reversed as to position, and its Shank engaged with the neck of the 3 5 receptacle which then forms a handle for the cork screw.

5o In the drawings, A represents the body which is preferably constructed from metal Fig. 2 is a vertical' and may be formed integrally or by bending a blank and securing its edges together, orit may be formed out of two metal blanks having their margins united. The general shape of this bodyis that of the ordinary pocket flask which is used to contain liquors, t'. e. flat, oval and tapering toward its, bottom, and is open at both ends. Said body is provided as shown in the drawings with an external bead a, 6o formed by reducing or offsetting the stock. This bead forms a stop or abutment for the telescoping bottom B, particularly shown in Fig. 5. The lowersurface of this bottom will be suitably corrugated to provide a suitable surface for striking matches. When said bottom is Withdrawn the interior of the recep` tacle is accessible, as shown in Fig. 4. The neck portion of the device as shown is threaded both interiorly and exteriorly, the 7o interior threads being adapted to engage the threaded shank c of the cork screw C, and the exterior threads being intended to engage the interior neck of the screw cap or cover D.

When the device is to be used as a cork screw, the latter is screwed into `the neck and the body of the device forms a convenient handle, as clearly shown in Fig. 3. Then the cork screw is not in use it is inserted pointdownward through the neck of the bottle, a 8o collar c thereof engaging the top of the neck to sustain the cork screw. I'Vhen the screw cap or cover is on lthe cork screw is entirely concealed.

E represents a guard which may be formed 8 5 by bending a metal strip of a width equal to the transverse diameter of the body and attaching its bent ends c to the inside of the receptacle against the shoulders below the neck. This guard prevents the matches or other 9o loose contents coming in contact with the cork screw and provides unobstructed space for the entrance of the latter, as shown in Fig. 2.

In order to provide a convenient means of carrying postage stamps, I secure on the interior of the body A toward its lower end the flanged plate F, which may be stamped up so that its sides and one end will be disposed angularly to its body and provide suitable roo space to contain the postage stamps G. The bottom margin of the body A will be cut away as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 2 to facilitate the withdrawal of the stamps by the application of the thumb thereto.

It will be observed that I have described the device as embodied in substantially the form of a pocket flask. This particular shape or design is a matter of selection only, but the device when thus constructed and adapted for the purposes described is a novelty as an article of manufacture and is an attractive and useful article. It may be used as an advertising medium without limiting myself to the precise detaiis of construction.

I claiml. The herein-described article of manufacture, comprising in combination a hollow body having open ends,a suitable closure for the bottom opening and a cork scl'ew whose screw is of such size as to enter the top opening or neckof the body and whose shank is adapted for operative engagement with the neck of the body, substantially as described.

2. The herein-described article of manufacture, comprising` in combination a hollow metal body having open ends, a telescoping bottom cover, an interiorly threaded neck and a cork screw havingathreaded shank adapted for engagement with said neck, substantially as described.

The herein-described article of manufacture, comprising in combination a hollow metal body having open ends, a telescopic bottom cover, the upper portion of the body being contracted to form a neck and said neck being threaded interiorly and exteriorly, a cork screw adapted to have the screw thereof enter through lthe neck and having a threaded shank and a liange of greater diameter than the opening of the neck, and a screw cap or cover, substantially as described.

The herein-described article of manufacture, comprising in combination a hollow metallic body having open ends, the upper end being contracted' to form a neck and the lower end tapered and provided with an external bead or rib, a telescopic bottom cover adapted to said tapered lower end, a screw cap adapted to the threaded neck, a cork screw having a threaded shank and a guard secured with the body to cover the point of the cork screw, substantially as described.

5. The herein-described article of manufacture comprising a hollow metal body having an open top provided with a cover, the

llower end of the body being also open and having a telescopic bottom cover, a flanged plate secured on the interior of the body to provide a stamp receptacle open at its bottom, and the wall of the body being cutaway at its lower margin and within the stamp receptacle to facilitate the removal of the stamps, substantially as described.
