SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 499,247, dated June 13,1893.

Application filed January 11, 1893 Serial No. 458,027. A(No model.)

by persons who have attended entertain ments,

and are therefore interested, or who are otherwise interested in such programs, and desire to keep them. The cabinet is provided with a door or lid, which in one position closes the cabinet, and which when open serves as a desk and which `has on the side facing inward, when the door or lid is closed, a memorandum sheet or surface, for the purpose hereinafter set forth.

In the accompanying drawings l is a cabinet adapted to stand on a suitable support,

and which is preferably made of ornamental i material, such as fancy hard woods. The upper part of the cabinet is closed by a hinged door or lid 2, the hinges preferably being at the bottom, as indicated at 3. The catch 4 on the upper side of the cabinet is provided to hold the door closed. When the door is open it occupies the inclined position shown in the dotted lines in Fig. 2. On the side 5 of the said door is, or may be, placed a mennorandum sheet or surface 6 as clearly shown in Fig. l. This sheet or surface is preferably provided with columns or subdivisions in which special information may be recorded. For example, at the head of the sheet may occur the words Plays which I have seen. At the head of one column may be the words- Accompanied by; at the head of another column the word Play; at the head of another column the word Date, and so on, for other information which it may be desirable to keep on the memorandum sheet.`

Within the cabinet are projecting fasteners such as extending pins 7, for supporting the programs 8, and displaying'the same.

The manner of using the said device is brieflyas follows: When aprogram is obtained which itis desirable to keep, it is put in the cabinet on the pins 7. The proper entries are then made on the sheet 6. This provides an index to the programs or sheets saved, and all of the desired information in regard to them, in' a position where it can be readily seen. I propose to provide a small drawerin the lower part of the cabinet.

The back programs or sheets can be seen at any time by raising the front sheets from the bottom.

An upright cabinet case having its front portion provided with a door or lid pivoted thereto at a short distance above the bottom and extending upward to the top, in combination with an index sheet or surface on the inner side of said door or lid, and means within the body of said case for loosely suspending vertically from the upper portion sep'arate sheets or programs substantially as described and for the purposes set forth.
