UNIT D STATES PATENT OFFICE.
PAUL \VARNSTORF, OF BUSLAR, GERMANY.
DEVICE FOR CASTING BILATERAL ARTIFICIAL HONEYCOMB.-
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 495,572, dated April 18, 1893.
Application filed May 4, 1892. Serial No. 431,834. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.- I
Be it known that I, PAUL WARNSTORF, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, and a resident of Buslar, in the Empire of Germany, have invented a new and useful Device for Casting Bilateral Artificial Honeycomb, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is a device forcasting bilateral artificial honey-comb from wax or similar substance, which completely corresponds in shape to the honey-comb produced by bees and adapted to replace the same.
The improved device is represented by the here annexed drawings in which- Figure 1 shows partly a side View and partly a longitudinal section. Figs. 2 and 3 represent detailed views of the device.
The mold box A consists of two halves cl hinge-fashion connected with each other at a and having in their bottomsanumber of hexagonal holes arranged so as to closely resemble jointly a piece of honey-comb.
In the bottom of one of the box halves cl the holes are somewhat displaced relatively to those of the other half so that when hexagonal core pieces or pins 0 pointed in front are passed from outside to the middle inwardly through all holes of both box halves (Z the points of the core pins 0 (Fig. 3) of the one side enter into interstices formed between the points of the core pins of the otherside. The set of hexagonal cores 0 appertaining to each box half (Z is united at the base by a plate B. To cast an artificial honey comb the two box halves cl are folded upon each other and subsequently the core pins 0 are passed with their plate B fromeach side inward through the hexagonal holes. The core plates 13 are locked to the boxA and thelatter is closed, by means of suitably placed hooks b or other mechanism. The liquid wax or other material poured into the box A through its open side or through an aperture provided for this purpose, penetrates into the interstices between the cores 0 and between the points thereof standing opposite each other, so as to assume precisely theshapc of natural honeycomb. After congelation or setting of the casting substance the locking device is undone and, one plate B with its cores taken out. A taking along ot' the wax is prevented by the core pins 0 fitting well into the holes of the box halves d. The box when opened presents the finished artificial honey-comb.
What I claim is In devices for casting bilateral artificial honey comb the combination of two plates B having the core pins 0, and the two stripper plateshavin g hexagonal holes fitting over the core pins 0 as described and shown.
