Description
D. BASCH. CORSET SHIELD.
(N0 Model.)
No. 489,783. Patented Jan. 1o, 189s.
UNTTED STATES PATENT OFFICE..
DAVID BASGI-I, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
CORSET-SHIELD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 489,783, dated January 10, 1893..
Application iiled May 24, 1892. Serial NalBILlZZ. (No model.)
T0 a/ZZ whom t may concern.-
Be it known that I, DAVID BASCH, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Oorset-Shields, of which the following is a specification.
The obj ect of this invention is a corset shield which is light, durable and not liable to be affected by moisture or perspiration and which can readily be attached to the waistline of a corset.
The peculiar and novel construction of my corsetshield is pointed out in the following specification and claim and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which Figure l, is a perspective view of a corset provided with my corset shields. Fig. 2, isa face View of my corset shield on alarger scale than the previous figure. Fig. 3, is a section in the plane m a: Fig. 2.
In the drawings the letter A designates a corsetshield which is composed of a sheet or layer ot' cork a and a covering h of ayielding elastic textile fabric such for instance as stockinet. This covering is secured to the sheet of cork a by applying to each face of the latter an elastic, waterproof adhesive tissue c of gutta percha or similar material and after these tissues have been spread upon the faces of the sheet a,I apply the covering b, and subject the whole to heat and pressure so that the elastic, waterproof, adhesive tissues c will be caused to adhere firmly to the faces of the sheet of cork a and at the same time act as a cement for retaining the covering in position.
The shield A constructed as above described may be provided with a binding d which can be used for attaching the shield to the corset C (Fig. l) bypassing stitches through the same but my shield is provided with a series of eyelet holes e near its edge so that it can be readily secured to the corset by means of stitches passing through these holes. The body of my shield is provided with ventilating openingsf.
By these means I have succeeded in conA structing a corset shield which is not liable to be aected by moisture or perspiration, which is of superior durability and which on account of its Ventilating openings, its lightness and its pliability is extremely convenient for the person wearing the same.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A corset shield, consisting of a sheet of cork surfaced on its opposite sides with elastic waterproof adhesive tissue, and a covering of elastic textile fabric connected with the opposite sides of the cork through the medium of the adhesive tissue, said shield being provided with Ventilating orifices f and eyelet holes e which extend through the cork and textile fabric, substantially as and for the purposes described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
DAVID BASCH.
