BUTTON-FASTENER AND KEY FOR DETACHING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 489,127, dated January 3, 1893.

Be it known that I, GEORG KOHL, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, residing at Vienna, Austria-Hungary, have invented a new and useful Button Fastener without Thread and to be Looscned with a Key, (for which I have not obtained a patent in any country,) of which the following is a specification. The object of this invention is to provide a button, simple and durable in construction, not liable to be torn from, or out of the cloth, and which can be attached and detached when desired.
The invention consists in the improved button, its locking mechanism and key and the combination and arrangement of the various parts thereof, substantially as will be hereinafter more fully described and finally embodied in the claim.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, in which like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in each of the several views: Figure l. is a side elevation of the improved button, part of it being shown in section, Fig. 2. is a top plan view thereof, with the top plate removed, Figs. 3. and 4:. are detail views of the locking disk, Figs. 5. and 6. are detail views of the lower portion of the button and Figs. 7and 8. are views of the key used in connection with the button.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
In a separable button, the rounded disk a, provided with a centrally located recess 0 and openings (1 a (of) an upper disk a, secured to said disk, and provided with a centrally located opening m, a locking plate B, provided with a squared hole 61', recesses b and a projection I), a lower disk F, upwardly extending pins f, secured to said disk and provided with recesses f, said pins being adapted to pass through said openings (1 a said recesses (f)to receive the edge of the locking disk, the latter being adapted to receive a key 0, provided with a squared portion (1, adapted to be inserted through opening m into the squared hole d of the said locking disk, all said parts being arranged and adapted to opcrate, substantially as described and for the purposes set forth.
