GAM E-BOARD.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 487,976, dated December 13, 1892.

Application led April 25, 1892. Serial No. 430,498. (No model.)

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, JOHN SANFORD WIL- LIAMS, of Trenton, in the county of Mercer and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Game-Board, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The object ofthe invention is to provide a new and improved gameeboard which is very simple and durable in construction and forms an'instructive and amusing puzzle.

The invention consists of a base andvof three circular walls held on the said base and connected one with the other by straight walls to form an inclosurevin which are held a number of marbles.

The invention also consists of certain parts and details and combinations of the same, as will be hereinafter fully described, and then pointed out in the claims.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.

Figure lis a plan view of the improvement, and Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same.

The improved game-board is provided with a base A, on which are erected the circular walls B C D, of which the last two are directly opposite each other and are somewhat smaller in diameter than the circular wall B. The

circular wall B is connected by a straight wall E with the wall C, and a similar straight wall A F connects the circular wall B with the circular wall D. The two walls E and F extend at angles to each other, as is plainly shown in Fig. l. The circular walls C and D are connected with e'ach other by a V-shaped wall G, the apex of which extends outward. In the wall B is an opening H, formed between the ends of the walls E and F. Similar openings I and J are formed in the walls C and D between the ends of the walls E G and F G, respectively. The openings I, J, and H thus lead into the inclosure formed by the parts of the walls B C D and the walls E, F, and G. A number of marbles, preferably six black ones and six white ones, is placed within the large circular wall B, the object being to manipulate the base Ain such a manner that the six white marbles will run within the circular wall C and the six black ones will run within the circular wall D, the operator not touching any of the marbles.

Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent-- 1. In a game-board, the combination, with a base, of three circular apertured walls held on the said base, two straight walls placed at angles to each other and connecting the larger circular wall with the two smaller circular walls, and a V-shaped wall connecting the two small circular Walls with veach other, the apertures in the circular walls opening into the space bounded by the straight and V-shaped walls, substantially as set forth.

2. In a game-board, the combination, with a base, of three circular apertured walls held on the said base, two straight walls placed at angles to each other and connecting the larger circular wall with the two smaller circular walls, a V-shaped wall connecting lthe two small circular walls withl each other, the apertures in the circular walls opening into the space bounded by the straight and V-shaped walls, and a number of marbles.- held within the said Walls, substantially as shown and described.

3. As a new article of manufacture, a gameboard comprisinga base, a large circular wall having an opening, two smaller circular walls provided with openings and placed opposite each other, two straight walls connecting the larger circular wall with the smaller circular walls, and a wall connecting the two smaller circular walls with each other, the apertures in the circular walls opening into the space bounded by the walls connecting the circular walls, substantially as shown and described.

4. A game-board comprising the base A, the large circular wall B,having an opening H in its side next to the middle of the base, two diverging walls E F, extending from the wall B at opposite sides of its opening and spaced apart a greater distance than the width of said opening, the smaller circular walls C D at the diverging ends of the walls E F and having openings I J in their adjacent sides, and the inclined or curved wall G, the ends of which connect with the walls C D, the ends of the walls C D projecting past the ends of the walls G E F, substantially as set forth.
