SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 485,664, dated November 8, 1892.
Application iled November 27, 1891. Serial No. 413,231. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES WILLIAM SCHUBERT, of Cottonwood, in the county of Lee, in the State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Belt Reels or Supports, the object being to provide a device of this character which will be adapted for attachment to the frame of a thrashing-machine to serve as a convenient means for rolling up and protecting the driving-belt of the machine when not in use.
The invention consists in the features of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claim.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective lView of my invention, and Fig. 2 is a transverse section of the roller or winding-drum thereof.
A is a rectangular frame of sufficient length and Width to accommodate the belt when rolled up. This frame is provided with bearings or boxes 1, Within which is supported a shaft 2, which is extended beyond the frame at one side and provided with a crank 3 for revolving the shaft.
4 represents a roller or drum mounted on the shaft and formed with a longitudinal recess or groove 5. Upon each end of the roller is secured a metallic disk formed With an opening 6 opposite the ends of the groove 5 to receive. a pin 7, which extends across the roller Within the groove, as shown.
B represents a semicircular box secured to f the frame A, and C is a semicircular cover hinged to one end of the box B to conceal and protect the belt afterl the latter is rolled up The pin 7 is removable, and to secure the belt the pin is removed, the fold or loop of the belt is` placed in the groove of the roller, and the pin then inserted, as shown in Fig. 2, to secure the belt, which will roll up upon the roller when the crank is turned.

In a belt-reel, the combination, with aframe A, formed with bearings, of a rollerlongitudinally recessed and provided with end disks, a removable pin 7, a box B, secured to the frame A, and a cover hinged to the frame, substantially as set forth.
