SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 483,932, dated October 4, 1892.

To all whom it may concern.:

Be it known that I, FRANK J. LITTLE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Portland, in the county of Ionia and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Plates for Vapor-Stoves; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the sam e, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to devices to be used in connection with vapor and gas stoves whereby a great saving is effected in the fuel, while at the same time articles or objects are more efficiently heated or cooked.

In the ordinary vapor and gas stoves there is a great waste of fuel owing to loss of heat by radiation, which renders the use of such stoves very expensive.

The object of my invention is to provide a plate adapted to be placed over a vapor or other burner, whereby the heat from the latter is utilized to the best advantage.

The invention consists, essentially, of a hollow plate having an opening or aperture upon one side, as hereinafter fully set forth and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of a plate constructed according to my invention. Fig. 2 is a central sectional view of the same.

Vmay be suspended from a nail or hook when not in use. The rim is also provided with an annular groove 9 to receive the top plate.y

The plate is preferably made with the rim and bottom of a single piece of metal and the top secured thereto by means of screwbolts 7, so that said top can be removed and a tea-kettle or other vessel placed upon the bottom with the frame of the burner impin'ging upon said vessel. The top 1 may also be formed with a series of intersecting grooves or corrugations 8.

The operation will be readily understood. The plate is placed upon the stove with the opening 5 immediately above the burner, so that the iame thereof will impinge against the bottomof the side 1 and the heat be conined within the space 4, thereby effecting a great saving in fuel. v

Having thus described my inventi0n,what I claim is- Y The combination, with the bottom 2, having a central opening and provided with a rim 3, having annular groove 9 and loop 6, of the corrugated removable top l, connected to said bottom by screws 7, substantially as described.
