WATCHMAKERS TWEEZERS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 482,232, dated September 6, 1892.
Application led December 15V, 1891. Serial No. 415,171. (No model.)
To all whom tmay concern.-
Beit known that I, CHARLEs WILLsoN DE- LANEY, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Hammond, in the county of Lake and State of Indian a,haveinventedcertain new and useful Improvements in Watchmakers Tools; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improved combination-tool for the use of jewelers and watchmakers which possesses superior advantages with respect to efficiency and utility.
The object of the invention is to provide a tool or implement of the. above character which can be employed for a variety of uses in connection With Watch making and repairing and which can be furnished at a comparatively small oost.
The invention consists in the novel construction hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure lis a side view of a tool or implement constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is an inner face view of one of the legs of the same. Fig. 3 is a similar view of the opposite leg.
In the said drawings the reference-numeral ldenotes the legs of the tool, which are preferably formed of a single piece of steel or other spring metal bent over upon itself at the center, forminga pair of tweezers, the ends of said legs being tapered to a point and provided Wit-h a groove 2, which enables a pinsuch asis used for pinning watch-dials fast-to be securely held and prevented from flying out, which is frequently the case in the ordinary forms of such tools. A jewel can also be readily picked upand examined Withoutliability of falling out. Intermediate of their ends the legs are formed with inwardly-projecting lugs or lips 3, having a notch or groove on their inner edges by Whicha seconds-hand of a Watch can be gripped and removed. One of these lips or lugs upon one leg is als'o provided with two inwardly-extending pins 4t on its under side, adapted to project under the opposite lip when the legs are brought together and which serve as a table upon which to lay the seconds-hand of a watch preparatory to gripping the same for the purpose of enlarging the tube or pipe thereof.
The advantages of my invention will be apparent to thoseskilled in the art to which it appertains.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- I 1. A Watohmakers or jeweler-s tool comprising the gripping-legs, the inwardly-projecting lips having a notch or groove in their inner edges, and the pins located underneath one of the lips and adapted to project under the opposite lip, substantially as described.
2. A watchmakers or jewelers tool comprising the gripping-legs having the grooves upon their inner faces, the inwardly-projecting lips with a notch or groove on their inner edges, and the pins located underneath one of said lips and adapted to project under the opposite lip, substantially as described.
