L. ,M. DOWLER. STOVEPIPB DRYING RACK.
No. 480,658. Patented Aug. 9, 1892.
I I I [WWII/V102 Aziorney UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LIBBIE MOORE DOWLER, OF TYLER, TEXAS, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-THIRD TO CHARLIE M. DOVVLER.
STOVEPIPE DRYl NG-RAC K.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 480,658, dated August 9, 1892.
Application filed April 25, 1892- Serial ITO-430,552. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, LIBBIE MOORE DOWLER, a citizen of the United States, residingat Tyler, in the county of Smith and State of Texas, have-invented certain newand useful Improvements in StovepipeDrying-Racks; andI do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention has relation to drying-racks; and it consists of a band made to encircle and be bound to stove or steam pipes and to hold a number of swinging arms, and is described as follows:
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a top plan View of my invention with the arms standing out. Fig. 2 is a top plan view of my invention with the arms folded together. Fig. 3 is an elevation of a stovepipe with my invention attached thereto.
A represents a band having arm-sockets a. Said band has its ends turned out, forming lips I), and then said ends are doubled back against themselves and extend inwardly, forming springs 0. Through said lips is abolt d, having on its threaded end a thumb-screw d. I make this band any size, so that it may fit any-sized pipe. In said sockets are hinged or pivoted arms e and f. All of said arms 6 and f have their lower ends 9 turned out, so that when the said band is secured to the stovepipe B said arms cannot be taken out of their sockets, and therefore cannot be mislaid or lost; but in order that they maybe out of the way when not in use they are so bent that they will neatly fit around the said band and may be gathered in a bunch at the rear of the pipe, and that they may be held in that position the arms f"each have on their extreme outer end eyes f and the arms e have on their extreme outer ends hooks 6', adapted to catch in said eyes.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The combination of band A, having the sockets a and lips b, bolt d, passing through said lips and secured by the thumb-screw d, and bent arms 6 and f, workingin said sockets and adapted to be gathered in a bund1e,-the hooks e, interlocking with the eyes f in the arms f, as shown and described.
2. The combination of the band A, having the sockets a, lips 17, and spring a, said lips adapted to be secured by proper bolt, bent arms 8 and f, arms 6, having the hooks e, and arms f, having the eyes f, said arms adapted to be gathered in a bundle, the hooks e interlocking with the eyes f in the arms f, as shown and described.
3. The combination, with a stove or steam pipe B, of the band A, having the sockets a, lips I), and springs c, said lips adapted to be secured by proper bolt, bent arms 6 and f, arms e, having the hooks e, and arms f, having the eyes f, said arms adapted to fit around the said band and be gathered in a bundle, the hooks e interlocking with the eyes f of the arms f, as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
LIBBIE MOORE DOWVLER.
