E. W. H. HOLME. DEMIJOHN HOLDER.
No. 480,095. Patented Aug. 2, 1892.
Wdijtesses. I [IT/Fm]? ATENT OFFICE.
ERIC W. H. HOLlWIE, OF TORONTO, CANADA.
DEMlJOHN-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 480,095, dated August 2, 1892.
Application filed January 14, 1892. Serial No. 418.084. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, ERIC WILLIAM HOLM- GREN HOLME, of the city of Toronto, in the county of York, in the Province of Ontario,
Canada, have invented a certain new and 1111- proved Demij oh n-Holder, of which the following is a specification.
The object of the invention is to provide a simple device by which a demijohn or large jar may be readily raised and tilted for the purpose of discharging its contents; and it consists in the peculiar construction, arrangement, and combinations of parts hereinafter more particularly described, and then definitely claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective View of my improved demijohnholder. Fig. 2 shows it applied to a demijohn in a vertical position. Fig. 3 is a view showing the holder carrying the demijohn tilted to discharge its contents.
The side bars A of my holder are preferably made in one piece, as shown, and are provided with feet B, which extend at right angles from said side bars for a sufficient distance to form a substantial support for the jar O and hold the same steady when the jar is in a perpendicular position. The rockers D are preferably formed by an extension of the feet 13 and are made sufficiently deep to raise the frame A high enough to permit the jar or demijohn O to be properly tilted for the purpose of emptying its contents. A
curved cross-bar E is preferably located at the point Where the upper end of the rockers D connect with the side bars A. A similar curved bar F is located at the bottom of the side bars A.
I do not confine myself to any particular material; but I prefer to make it of light material, such as bamboo or Wicker-Work; nor is it necessary to provide two rockers D, as one wide one would be sufficient.
When it is designed to empty the demijohn or jar O, I insert the feet B, as shown in Fig. 2, below the jar G. I then seize the handle G, connected to the demijohn or jar, and tilt it against the frame A, which naturally rolls over on its rockers D, which elevates the demijohn or jar O sufficiently to permit its contents to be poured out of its mouth into the desired receptacle.
What I claim as my invention is- 1. A frame for the purpose described, comprising the side bars A, straight feet B, extending substantially at right angles from the bottom of said bars A completely under and forming a support for the demijohn, rockers D, and cross-bars E and F, substantially as described.
2. A frame for holding demijohns, comprising the side bars A, arch-shaped at top to fit over the top of the demijohn, straight feet 13, extending at right angles from the bottom of said side bars completely under and supporting said demijohn,-rockers D, and cross-bars E and F, all substantially as shown and described.
Toronto, December 17, 1891.
ERIC IV. 11. HOLME.
