Description

(No Model.)
H. S. LOURY. LAMP HEATER.
No. 478,753. Patented July 12, 1892.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HARRIET SOPHIE LOURY, OF HARRISONBURG, VIRGINIA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE- HALF TO KATHARINE M. WILSON, OF SAME PLACE.
LAM P-H EATER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 478,753, dated July 12, 1892.
Application filed November 19, 1891. Serial No. 412,447. (No model.) 7
T0 aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HARRIET SOPHIE LOURY, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Harrisonburg, in the county of Rockingham and State of Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lamp Heaters, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
My lamp-heater is designed to render oillamps as efficient forheating innumerable articles-such as diet for children-as ordinary illuminating-gas; and my invention consists in the novel structure, combination, and arrangement of the parts, substantially as hereinafter described, and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a view in side elevation, showing the application of my invention for use to a lamp. Fig. 2 is a plan View of my invention, and Figs. 3, 4, and are detailed views thereof.
In the embodiment of my invention I stamp out or otherwise form from any thin sheet metal two intersecting supports A and B. Support A is provided with the longitudinal platform a, which extends the entire length of the wings I) b, the metal in continuation being turned over at right angles and then folded back to form the platform of support A, as shown in Fig. 3. Support A consists of this platform a, the inclined corrugated sides (I, which in practice rest upon thelamp-chimney, and the slitted or recessed guidee, adapted to register or fit into the corresponding slit or 5 recess f of support B. Support B is provided with the wings g g, formed by a slit 3, each wing having a platform h, and into slit or recessf is inserted support A, as shown in Fig.
1. Support B comprises a platform on each of its wings, slightly spaced apart and constructed in a manner similar to the platform of support A, and it is also provided with inclined corrugated sides 01, which in practice rest upon the upper edge of the lamp-chimney. Thus constructed a highly efficient and comparatively inexpensive lamp-heater is produced, which is alike suitable for lampchimneys of all sizes.
Having thus fully described myinvention, I claim- The heating attachment for lam p-chimneys, consisting of the winged plates adapted to be connected together at right angles and having their upper edges folded back and standing at right angles to their vertical portions and the lower edges of their wings corrugated, the folded-back and right-angled upper edge portions of said plates intersecting each other at right angles in the same horizontal plane, causing them to stand flush with each other, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
H. SOPHIE LOURY.
