W. OLOUSER. FOOT REST FOR EMBALMING TABLES.
No. 478,668. Patented Jul 12, 1892.
j UNITED STATES PATE T OFFICE.
WILLIAM OLOUSER, OF GREENFIELD, OHIO, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO JAMES A. PORTER, OF SAME ILAOE.
FOOT-REST FOR EMBALMlNG-TABLES.
SPECIFICATION forming art of Letters Patent No. 478,568, dated July 12, 1892. Application filed March 28, 1890- Serial No. 345,645. (No model) To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM CLoUsER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Greenfield, in the county of Highland and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Foot-Rests for Embalming- Tables; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improvements in foot-rests for embalming-tables.
The object of my invention is to producea foot-rest for embalming-tables which will be simple and inexpensive of construction and convenient to use and to pack up.
Figure 1 isa face View, Fig. 2 a sectional View, and Fig. 3 a side view, of my improved foot-rest.
The same letters and numbers refer to the same parts in different figures.
My improved foot-rest has a foot-board W, connected to and supported by wires V, which have their ends 10 held in holes 11, Figs. 1, 2, and 3. The board W has a groove in the rear side, in which the wire V is embedded, and V-shaped notches Z in its ends, which prevent the board from turning and also permit of a limited amount of oscillation about the supporting-wire V. Two grooves 7 are made in the front side of the board W, in which the curved wires X are held. Bolts having plateshaped heads 9 and wing-nuts Y are used to secure both of the wires V and X to the board W, the heads 9 extending over the ends 8 of the wires X and the nuts Y over the wires V. The ends 8 of the wires X and the heads 9 of the bolts are sunk into the board W, so that the heads 9 will be flush with the front face of the board WV, and thus present an even surface for the feet to rest against. The central curved portions of the wires X are bent forward, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3, to form side supports for the feet. The Wires X may be adjusted laterally to accommodate different Widths of feet. The series of holes 11 in the table-top 4 provide for adjustment of the foot-rest lengthwise of the table.
I claim The combination, in an embalming-table, of a foot-rest body part having a flat foot-bearing surface and grooves in the surfaces, a continuous-wire support held in a groove in the rear of the body part, side foot-guards held in grooves in the front of the body part, and bolts securing both sets of wires to the body part by means of projecting head and nut parts, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I now affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM CLOUSER. Witnesses:
L. PARSHALL, J. FRANK WILSON.
