Description

Patented May 24, 1892.

A. G. EGGBRS. SINKBR PoR SYRINGB TUBES.
" W/TNESSES UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ANTON C. EGGERS, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
SI'NKER FOR SYRINGE-TUBES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 475,495, dated May 24, 1892. Application filed March 19, 1892. Serial No. 425,539. (No model.)
To a/ZZ whom it may concern,.-
Be it known thatl, ANTON O.EGGERs,aciti Zen of the United States, and a resident of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sinkers for Syringe- Tubes, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved sinker for the lower ends of syringe-tubes, which is made of ring shape, so as to be used for suspending the syringe-tube when not, required for use; and it consists of a sinker for syringetubes which is made ring-shaped and with tubular ends, one side of the ring shaped sinker being made solid while the other side is provided with a channel that connects the tubular ends, said channel being produced by means of an elastic coring when molding the sinker before vulcanization.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a side view of my improved sinker for syringe-tubes, and Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Referring to the drawings, A represents the sinker, which is made of ring shape and provided with tubular ends et a at diametricallyopposite points, the upper end a being provided with a collar b', against which the lower end of the syringe-tube B abuts when the same is placed over the said upper end a of the sinker. The lower tubular end ct of the sinker A is serrated at its lower edges, so as to facilitate the ingress and egress of the liquid when the sinker is in vertical position in the-vessel from which the liquid is supplied to the syringe. The ring-shaped body of the sinker is made solid along one side of the same and at the opposite side is provided with a tubular channel b. that connects the tubular ends a a', the tubular channel and ends being formed by means of an elastic core, whichis inserted before vulcanization in the mold in which the sinkeris formed, said elastic core being removed after the vulcanization is completed. In this manner a continuous passage for the liquid is formed along one side of the sinker, while sufficient weight is given to the sinker by the remaining solid portion of the same, and at the same time bythe ring shape of the sinker the same can be used for suspending the syringe from the sinker after use, so as to produce the draining of the liquid and the drying of the syringe.
Having thus described my invention, IY
claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A sinker for syringe-tubes, composed of a ring-shaped body having tubular ends and a channel extending along one side of the ringshaped sinker and connecting with the tubular ends, while the remaining portion of the sinker is solid, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that l claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
AN TON C. EGGERS.
