FRANK JANOUCI-I, OF LINCOLN, IVEBRASKA.
oonx-nxrnnoron.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FRANK JANoUoH, a
' citizen of the United States, residing at Lin-- may be conveniently carried in the pocket;
the said extractor being provided with points adapted to straddle a cork whereby the cork may be readily withdrawn from the mouth of a bottle. The points are adapted to slidewithin the casingof the extractor when not in use and consequently the device may be carried in the pocket of a garinent without having the points exposed to the material of the garment. V a In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of the extractor showing the points extended with relation to the casing. 2 is a side elevation of the same with part of the casing removed. Fig.
'3 is a transverse sectional view of the same.
lhe extractor comprises a casing ,1 which is made up of two sectlons secured together by means of transversely disposed screws 2 i and 3. A slngle screw 3 islocated mthe vicinity of one end of the casing while a air of screws 2 are located in the Vicinity o the opposite end. The screws 2 are spaced from each other. U-shaped members 3 are slidabl-y mounted in the casing 1 and their inner side portions lie between the screws of the pair of screws and thesaid'side portions of the said members are provided with heads l 'WlllCh are adapted to encounter the screws 2 when the U-shaped members 3 are moved in one dlrection withrelation to the casing and are adapted to encounter the single screw 3 when the members 3 are moved in an opposite direction in the casing. Thus the movement of the members 3 wlthln the casing 1s hmited. The outer side portions of the members 3 fit snugly against the in ner sides of the casing and carry flexible points 5 which points are tapered longitudi- Speeification of Letters Patent.
nally. The outer ends of the points 5 are disposed outwardly as at 6. c
When it is desired to carry the extractor in a pocket or when it 'is not in use, the U-shaped members 3 may he moved longitudinally of the casing 1 so that the heads 4 will encounter thescrews 2. At this time, the points 5 are located within the casing 1. When it is desired to use the extractor, one of the members 3 is moved longitudinally in the casing until its attached head 4: comes in contact with the single screw 3. This projects the point 5 beyond the end of the casing and this point is then inserted between the cork and neck of a bottle and passed down the whole or any part of the length of the cork. After this has been done the other member 3? is moved and its point 5 inserted in thesame manner so that the cork is'received between the said points.
By reason of the fact that the extremities of the points 5 are outwardly disposed the said points will not have a tendency to tear the cork as they are beingfinserted between the limited in their movements by the said se- CUIHIg ClGVICQS, and points carried bythe said members.
2. A. cork extractor, comprising a caslng consisting of side members, securing devices connecting said side members together,

inner surface of the mouth'of the bottle and U-shaped members slidably mounted in the f casing and having heads in "the path of movement of which the sa d securing devices are located, and points carried by the said U-shapedmembers,
In testimonywhereof I afiix mysignature in presence of two witnesses. FRANK J ANOUGH.
